Classroom Discipline Plan Classroom Floor Plan Classroom Survey Strategies Reward System Rituals and Routines

Classroom Discipline Plan I have developed a system that works well in my classroom. I created notes on color coded paper. When students are disrupting in my class, I simply walk by them and slip a piece of paper in front of them. They are all aware that a yellow slip means warning and a pink slip means that they need to see me after class. If their behavior continues to be disruptive, I will send them out to ISD and call their guardian. I like this system because it allows me to continue instruction without having to verbally reprimand the student and loose instructional time.

Classroom Floor Plan w/Rationale

I teach Business Education and have a computer lab for a classroom. The computers are in a permanent location due to electrical outlets and Internet connection.

Although I am please with the results from this survey, I am not sure if it portrays the correct results. This survey was given to my class in my presents. The students did not take their time to complete.

Strategies to Engage All Students All of the work in my classroom is posted on-line. I engage my students by providing rigor throughout each lesson. Students are encouraged to continue in the unit by moving forward early when they complete their work. I also provide a grab bag for students who finish activities early. It has many brain teasers and other educational activities for them. We do not have down time in my classroom and absolutely NO GAMES!

Instructional Games, Reward Systems, and Special Activities The reward system in my class is incorporating the grab bag as mentioned above. Students really like completing the brain teasers and other educational activities. In the Computer Applications 1 class, I often ask students who finish early, to help by instructing a short lesson. It helps reinforce their knowledge and is a privilege to do so.

Rituals & Routines How will students enter and leave the classroom? Students enter the classroom in an orderly fashion. They do not leave when the bell rings. They leave when I verbally dismiss them. What signals will you use to begin/end classroom activities or bring the class to attention? I use silence to get the class started. When I am standing in the front of the class not saying anything and just looking at them, they know to be quiet. It actually works! How will students move into and out of groups? I give instructions first. After that is done, I verbally announce groups. I also give out a paper with the groups listed. When I tell each group to move, they move group by group. How will student respond to questions?

Students respond by raising their hand. How will student gather and put up instructional materials? I have a self operating classroom. We have a materials manager. It is the job of the material manager to gather and put away instructional materials. All textbooks are left out on the desks. How will work be turned in and how will graded work be passed out? All work that is turned in is placed on a table beside the door. Students are asked not to get up during class. When I verbally dismiss them, they put their work on the table on their way out the door. How will you take roll? The self operating classroom has a roll caller. This student has a roster that they use to take roll. During class I verify the attendance and enter it into the computer. How will student know what to do during class? All of the work is on the website. I have attached a picture of what it looks like. They are aware of the opening, work and closing sessions.

How important are manners? Which ones are important to you? I understand that manners are a learned behavior. I am somewhat understanding when it comes to the use of manners. The most important manner to me is respect. I like for them to have a general respect for themselves, as well as their classmates. If a student treats their classmates with respect, then they will have manners. How will report cards and progress reports be given and brought back? These are both issued according to the school policy. They are either given out during 1st period, or at the end of the day. What do we do if we have a visitor in the classroom? If the teacher has to leave the classroom? If students are suddenly ill? When a visitor is present or I have to leave, class continues. With the website in place, students can still access their work and continue with class if I am caught up in something. How do you expect students to help you or a substitute manage these procedures when you are not there? The self operating classroom works smoothly. All students are aware of the routine of this classroom. Substitutes have left me notes complimenting how my classroom works. How will you manage non-instructional activities such as roll call, bathroom breaks, fire drills, etc? What will be the students role in these activities? I am attaching a copy of the self operating classroom. I have an attendance clerk. It is the attendance clerk who keeps a log of who is out of the classroom. I am also inserting the log. All students must ask for permission before leaving. After permission is granted, they then must check out with the attendance clerk. At any time, I can ask the attendance clerk who is out of the classroom. They will tell me who, where they went and what time they left.
