Leavitt Kauwe 04/16/2012 The ideas the founders used are natural rights philosophy, classical republicanism and

constitutional government. These are the three main ideas in my essay. I will explain what these three ideas are and why it is important for us to know and understand them. Natural rights answers the question to why do we need government? The answer to that is without government there would be chaos. There would not be any laws and no one would have any rights. It would be every man for himself basically. We would be able to do anything to anyone and nothing would happen. For example if you were to kill somebody and nothing would happen to you because if there is no government there is no law. I think if this world had no laws we would all be dead because everyone would just do things for the hell of it. I think government is good to have because I thinking that everyone should have their own privacy within a certain amount of area. Also think of this: what if you had brought a very nice supped up lifted

brand new 2013 F350, and there was no government. How would you feel if someone had stolen it and you were not able to do anything about it? You would be mad right, because I know that I would be mad. So we need to think of how life would be without government. Would you survive without a government? Classical Republicanism is an early theory of democracy that holds that the best kind of government is the one that promotes the common good and the welfare of an entire society. Its characteristics include civic virtue and moral education. The earliest examples can be found in the governments of ancient Greece and Rome. A civic virtue means sacrificing your life for the common good for example my uncle is in the army and he is sacrificing his life for his country. Constitutional government is a constitution that they obey. A constitution is a set of laws that is higher than any government and that all must obey. For example the beliefs in natural rights are god

given rights. Government should not take away these rights. For example if you were in a gay relationship with someone you really love and you cannot get married because it will violate the right of a person to pursue happiness. In conclusion, in my essay I have explained the three main ideas that the founders have used. Natural rights are about why it is important to have government. Classical republicanism that is about sacrificing your life for the common good, finally, is Constitutional Government. This is a set of laws set up that is higher than the government and all must obey.
