What is the effect of light on RGR? Why? The corn plants under the full sunlight has higher relative growth rate than the corn plants in the shaded area. This means that the light coming from the sun helps increase the weight of the corn plants. Thus, the light is directly proportional to the oven dry weight of the leaves of the corn plants.

Figure 1. A line graph showing the relationship between the net assimilation rates (NAR) of corn plants under shaded and unshaded (full sunlight) area.
What is the effect of light on NAR? Why? The corn plants under the full sunlight had grown longer leaves than the corn plants in the shaded area. The light coming from the sun contributes to the dimensions of the leaves of the corn plants.

Figure 3. A line graph showing the relationship between the crop growth rates (CGR) of corn plants under shaded and unshaded (full sunlight) area.
What is the effect of light on CGR? Why? The corn plant grown under the unshaded area grew faster than the corn plants grown in the shaded area. The sunlight helps in making the corn plants grow faster.

Figure 4. A line graph showing the relationship between the leaf area index (LAI) of corn plants under shaded and unshaded (full sunlight) area.
What is the effect of light on LAI? Why? The area of the leaves of the corn plants in the unshaded area is greater than the area of the leaves of corn plants in the shaded area. The light from the sun affects the expansion of the leaves of the corn plants.

Figure 5. A line graph showing the relationship between the leaf area ratios (LAR) of corn plants under shaded and unshaded (full sunlight) area.
What is the effect of light on LAR? Why? There is a greate value of leaf area index on the corn plants under the unshaded area during the first three weeks of their growth but during the second three weeks of their growth, the corn plants in the shaded area yielded greater value of leaf area index.

Which variable either singly or in combination has the greatest effect on transpiration rate? Variable A, which is the combination of still air and low light had the greatest effect on the transpiration rate of the corn plants. This variable yielded the highest rate of transpiration based on the experiment done in the laboratory.
