And Why You Shouldnt Do It

Youre at a bar with a group of people to celebrate your friends birthday. Your friends get a few beers, but you decide to only have two because you have to drive later. But you got thirsty.

drinking and driving- the act of operating a vehicle after consuming alcohol or other drugs

It is a criminal offense in the U.S.

How does alcohol affect your driving?


Alcohol is a depressant, meaning it temporarily prevents the body from functioning properly. Your reactions are delayed, your vision is blurred, and youre more likely to fall asleep or pass out at the wheel.

You run the risk of killing yourself and others!

Alcohol and Inhibitions


Alcohol releases your inhibitions, or personality elements than stop a person from behaving without regard for possible consequences. After consuming alcohol, youre more likely to get in the drivers seat without thinking twice.

What is blood alcohol concentration?


blood alcohol content (BAC)- percentage of alcohol in the blood If a persons BAC is at least 0.08 (in Virginia), they could be charged with a DWI (driving while intoxicated). The Implied Consent Law states that any licensed driver charged with driving under the influence or while intoxicated cannot legally refuse to be tested for blood alcohol concentration.

Car Accidents
Drinking and driving almost always leads to a car accident, and you have two options: you could die, or you could live. If you die, then your family and friends will be forced to live without you for the rest of their lives. If you live, you stand a great chance of experiencing severe injuries or trauma that could stay with you for the rest of your life. Brain damage is just one of the numerous examples.

Why shouldnt you drink and drive?


You could hurt or kill yourself and others Significant damage to cars and other property You could lose your drivers license You could lose your job You could go to jail

You have your whole life ahead of you

IS IT WORTH IT?
