Quick Installation Guide

1. How to mount HDDs


Reference : This user guide is for not mounting Hard Disk. Note : Please disconnect AC power cord, when replacing the hard disk drive. 1) Turn the screw which is on lower part of the product with the direction of the picture. 2) Push down and pull lightly to front the panel to separate from main body.

3) Please check HDDs direction like the picture and put 4) Connect SATA cables to HDDs. Connect SATA cables of HDD0in.

LEFT sticker shape in the left side HDD of the picture, and connect HDD1-RIGHT sticker shape in the right side.

Notice : The shape of SATA cables are different please pay attention to connect.

5) Screw lower part of product and HDDs together.

6) Push the front panel and fix with screw.

2. Network Connection via Internet sharing device / Router / Hub


Connect NAS-20 to Internet sharing device / Router / Hub using LAN cable.

3. System Installation
You can set up a RAID on Windows, MAC OS, and Linux. 1) Find the NAS by following these procedures. a. When you turn on [POWER] switch at the back panel, [POWER] LED will light up. b. When the boot process is completed, [READY] LED will turn on or blink. (It takes about 2 minutes.) c. Run the Sarotech NAS Navigator by following these procedures. (It works only in the Windows OS.) Notice : At the first time to use this program, you should [Unblock] in Windows Security Alert. Please execute \Program\NAS_Navigator(ENG)_Setup_Rxxx.exe file in provided CD. You can download Navigator program at our web site. (www.sarotech.com) After installation, Run [Start->All Programs->Sarotech NAS Navigator-> Sarotech NAS Navigator] . Click [Search].

You will see nas20 in NAS list. Please click [Search again] two or three times at intervals of 10 seconds, if you cannot find nas20. Notice : Please record the IP address.

2) Enter admin as User name and Password on log-in window and click [Login]. (For firmware version 2.1 or higher, the password of admin is nas.)

3) When you log-in successfully you will see the picture as below.

Notice : When the message Found New Disk. Please Format. does not come out it means that the HDD is not recognized properly. Please check connected power cable and the data cable to HDD. 4) Create RAID System by following procedures. Notice : Refer to FAQ [2. Single HDD, Single 2HDD installation] , if you dont want to set RAID.
Go to [Control Panel->Maintenance->RAID Settings] menu. We recommend using RAID 1 as Raid Level and NTFS as File system. The storage server only can build RAID on the two internal SATA hard disk drives.

Warning : For RAIDNTFS configuration, the HDDs data cannot be read directly in windows PC because the partition of
HDD has RAID features.

Caution : NEVER turn off the web-browser and PC while installing.

4. System setting
1) A .When the boot process is completed, [READY] LED will turn on or blink. B. Run Sarotech NAS Navigator(Run [Start->All Programs->Sarotech NAS Navigator-> Sarotech NAS Navigator] ). You can find your NAS. C. Click the [Web Admin] button on your NAS in the program. You can find the login web page. D. Enter admin as User name and Password on log-in window and click [Login]. (For firmware version 2.1 or
higher, the password of admin is nas.)

2) Select [Basic] -> [Quick Setup] -> [Wizard]. 3) Step 1/6: Select web-browser language e.g.) Select [English] and click [Next].

4) Step 2/6: Change password Enter new password and confirm it. Click [Next]. (admin is default password for admin user account)
(For firmware version 2.1 or higher, the password of admin is nas.)

5) Step 3/6: Set the hostname of NAS-20 Set the hostname and click [Next] . (Default host name is nas20.)
Notice : When you have two or more NAS in the same Network, please make different host name. For example, nas1, nas2, etc.

6) Step 4/6: IP address setting Select the appropriate option for IP address and click [Next]. We recommend you to use both [Obtain IP Address automatically] and [Obtain DNS Server Address automatically].

7) Step 5/6: Date, Time, Time Zone Settings. Set the Date, Time, Time Zone and click [Next]. e.g.) For UK Time Zone, Select the (GMT) Greenwich Mean Time: Edinburgh, London. Select the NTP Server Default and time.windows.co

8) Step 6/6: Confirm the settings Check the setting information and click [Complete]. Click [Back] to revise setting.

5. Add a new user


Basically there is Admin user account. Refer to Chapter 1 in user manual for adding a new user.

6. Add a shared folder


Basically there is a shared folder public. In the folder public, there are music folder (comes to seem from iTunes) and btdownload folder (used for BitTorrent client). Refer to Chapter 3 in user manual for adding a shared folder.

7. How to access NAS


If the rebooting is completed ([[READY] LED will turn on or blink.), run Start->All Programs->Sarotech NAS Navigator-> Sarotech NAS Navigator. You can find your NAS. (IP address is the one that you found in NAS list.) 1) Via Web: Select [Web Admin] or type http://IP address at the address window in the web browser. You can find the web page. 2) Via Windows Explorer: Select [Shared Folder]. Or type http://IP address at the address window in the window explorer. You can find the shared folder list. 3) Via FTP: Select [FTP Connection]. Enter User ID and Password to connect in the logon window. ( But Internet Explorer is not a FTP program basically. You can connect to only user account folder. ) We recommend you to use general FTP program. Please refer to User manual for details. Notice : Please follow NAS turn off steps. To turn off your NAS, connect to admin account in web browser and click [Control Panel]->[System]->[Turn off Server]. Turn power off after 10secs. Do not turn off a NAS while using your NAS through the Network. If the user turn power switch off or remove power cable while using a NAS through the Network, it may cause loss of data or malfunction of hard disk drive. Please follow above steps.

FAQ
1. How to install in the MAC OS or Linux: After rebooting is completed([READY] LED will turn on or blink.), you can access NAS by following these methods. a. Via Web: Enter http://nas20 in web-browser address bar. b. Via FTP: Enter nas20 in FTP client program. c. Via Windows Explorer: Enter \\nas20 in address bar. If the Log-In window does not come out, connect both your NAS and your computer directly and reboot them respectively. After 3 minutes when READY LED is ON, enter http://169.254.1.1 in web-browser address bar.

Now you can access NAS and install it. 2. Single HDD, Single 2HDD installation Click [Control Panel]->[Maintenance]->[Disk Utility] menu. Select ntfs in [Format Type Format] and click [Format]. (The format time depends on HDD capacity.)

If HDD format is completed, NAS-20 will be automatically rebooted. When rebooted is completed([READY] LED is on), the login screen comes out. Caution : NEVER turn off the web-browser and PC while installing.
