Congratulations on purchasing one of the world's oest oass amplifers! Narkoass amps are ouilt to the highest standards o] a small team of skilled technicians in 8an
0iovanni Teatino, ltal].
we have spent man] ]ears researching not onl] the highest-qualit] technologies for oass amp design and construction, out also the practical needs of the working oassist.
The end result is a product that comoines outstanding sound qualit] with intuitive features, attractive design and extreme reliaoilit]-all in one impossiol] lightweight unit.
This amp will allow ]our instrument to speak in its natural voice, faithfull] conve]ing ]our musical ideas to ]our audience with stunning clarit].
Your amplifer has passed rigorous product testing and should survive even the toughest of environments on the road, in cluos, rehearsal halls and concert stages. ho-
netheless, please treat it with care and ]ou will oe rewarded with man], man] ]ears of glorious, rich, powerful oass tone!
lf the clarit] and power of this amp inspire ]ou to pla] oetter music, we will have succeeded in our mission. 0ood luck and enjo] ]our new oest friend!

when l oegan to develop the Narkoass concept in ltal] several ]ears ago l had one oojective in mind. to produce a top-qualit] oass amp that would meet the needs
of professional oass pla]ers ever]where. l wanted m] amps to oe compact and lightweight, ]et aole to handle the low frequencies that toda]'s four, fve and six string
passive and active oasses are capaole of producing. Thanks to modern technolog] and the availaoilit] of high-qualit] components like low-profle toroidal transformers,
neod]mium speakers and so on, l was aole to accomplish this.
The Narkoass amplifer circuitr] is designed specifcall] not to color the sound of the oass out to faithfull] reproduce the unique tonal qualities of whatever instrument
is pla]ed through it. l have worked ver] closel] with man] high-profle professional oass pla]ers around the world to fne-tune the Narkoass product line.
l am confdent that the Narkoass line of amps and caoinets is now read] to satisf] the needs of oass pla]ers all over the world.
Thanks for choosing Narkoass, l hope ]ou will fnd ]our new amp to oe an inspiring upgrade to ]our sound!
we encourage ]ou to use ]our Narkoass gear in all kinds of musical situations-and please help us to continue developing our products o] sending ]our comments to

There are two knoos on the front panel of the amp that control the volume of ]our oass. The 0Alh (8j control determines how much signal is passed through the preamp stage of the unit, which includes equalization
and the effects loop. The NA8TER (11j volume regulates how much output comes out of the power amp into ]our caoinet.
lf pla]ing through the amp causes the olue CllP (4j light to turn on at all, ]ou should turn down the 0Alh (8j control to avoid distortion.
when ]ou frst plug into the amp, start with the 0Alh (8j and NA8TER (11j controls set at their lowest levels, in other words turned all the wa] counter-clockwise. Then, turn ]our instrument's volume up to its full

Narkoass amps are designed to faithfull] reproduce the natural sound of ]our oass. lf ]ou have a good instrument, ver] little equalization (E0j-if an]-should oe required. Bass guitars produce a surprisingl]
wide range of frequencies-from extremel] low frequencies that are more felt than heard, to extremel] high frequencies that pass through ]our caoinet's tweeter and are oarel] audiole to the human ear. As ]ou
experiment with ]our E0 settings, ]ou will notice that all the different frequenc] ranges pla] essential roles in making up ]our oass tone.
l0w frequencies constitute music's sonic foundation-the] give power to ]our sound, ph]sicall] resonating ]our listeners' oodies (and ]ours!j, sometimes even causing people to move and dance!
l0w NlDs ("NlD l0w" or Nid Frequenc] lowj make ]our oass sound loud, projecting the sound over long distances, "flling the room."
Hl0H NlDs ("NlD Hl0H" or Nid Frequenc] Highj conve] the pitch of the notes that ]ou pla]. Clarit] of this range ensures that the melodies in ]our oass lines are heard. lf detail is missing in this range, ]our melodic
contrioution to the music will suffer.
Hl0H frequencies carr] the percussive content of ]our pla]ing-the attack of ]our notes, the sound of ]our fnger or pick passing over the string, fret noise, and in the case of slap oass, the "tick" noise produced
when the strings oounce off the frets.
lf an] one of these frequenc] ranges is neglected or poorl] represented o] ]our amp, ]ou are not hearing an accurate representation of the sound that ]our oass is generating. 8ince these amps has oeen designed
to give ]ou clear, detailed and musical sound at all frequencies, when the amp is set "fat"-with all E0 knoos at 12 o'clock-]ou should hear a ver] true mirror of the sound of ]our oass.
However, the following circumstances will require ]ou to use equalization.
1. The signal from ]our oass is lacking output level in one of the frequenc] ranges descrioed aoove.
2. The room or venue ]ou're pla]ing in has poor acoustics and excites a certain frequenc]. For example, if ]ou're pla]ing on a hollow stage, certain low frequencies ma] sound di sproportionatel] loud
or out of control, and ]ou ma] notice that ever] time ]ou pla] a certain note, it sounds much louder than all the others. ln these cases the offending frequenc] needs to oe identifed and reduced.
8. You're seeking to alter the oasic sound of ]our instrument in order to achieve a particular musical effect.
Equalization should oe treated as fne-tuning. 8pend some time listening to ]our oass through the amp with all the E0 controls in the neutral (12 o'clockj position oefore ]ou start changing the settings. You're likel]
to need little or no equalization!
However, if and when equalization is required, ]ou will fnd this amp's E0 to oe powerful and impressivel] detailed.
The l0w E0 (5j control is set to a center frequenc] of 4O Hz. This means that it either ooosts or cuts the volume of the frequencies around 4O Hz, to a maximum of 1O decioels.
The l0w-NlD (NlD l0wj (Oj E0 control ooosts or cuts the frequencies around 8OO Hz, o] as much as 1O decioels.
The Hl0H-NlD (NlD Hl0Hj (7j E0 control ooosts or cuts the frequencies around 8OO Hz, o] as much as 1O decioels.
The Hl0H E0 (8j control ooosts or cuts the frequencies around 5 kHz, o] as much as 1O decioels. The 0 on this E0 (the range of frequenc] controlledj is quite wide, spanning from aoout 2 kHz to aoout 8O kHz.

Narkoass amplifers feature two magic knoos that alter the equalization of ]our oass signal with speciall] formulated musical results. Nost pla]ers use these controls more than the E0 since the] were designed
specifcall] to meet the practical needs of oassists.
The VlE (9j (Vintage loudspeaker Emulatorj flters out high frequencies to give ]ou a mellower, less modern sound. As ]ou turn the knoo clockwise, ]ou will fnd that a wider and wider range of high frequencies
gets cut (see page 14 for a graph of this flter's functionj. This E0 effect is especiall] useful for acoustic and older st]les of music.
The VPF (1Oj (Variaole Pre-shape Filterj ooosts lows (around 85 Hzj and highs (around 1O kHzj, and cuts mids at 88O Hz. This flter has ver] powerful uses for rock music and is also a favorite of man] slap oass
