Limitation of Sprinter with Data Injection using alm

This limitation was found while searching for a fix for bug 37021 Data Injection - ALM Data set feature is not working We follow the next procedure. Before Execution
1) Validate that when running the test set in a remote computer that this is enable and working. 2) QTP 10 or 11 should be installed in the remote pc since these are the only ones supported by ALM.

Page |2 3) When running long test sets please ensure that the clean up setting is set up in the QTP remote agent.

How to change QTP Remote Agent settings

1) Navigate to Start>Programs>HP QuickTest Professional>Tools>Remote Agent 2) Right click on the QTP Remote Agent in the system tray and click on settings

3) Under the Cleanup section change the 'Restart testing tools after" run setting

Note: The runs number can be defined depending of your test set size, for example if you have 30 test cases in the test set you can define it to 10 runs.

Defining Log level

If log level is defined please try to have in a high level only for debugging purposes and ensure that the log folder has enough space to handle the log and you have permissions to write.

During Execution
1) When Executing directly thru QTP try not to be in the same test case or test set in ALM.

Troubleshooting
Object Locked
To ensure that an object is not locked after an unexpected failure during execution. Log out from ALM if possible and avoid using the task manager to kill the process. Also close QTP and ensure that you are disconnected from ALM in QTP. If this procedure is not follow the session will not be close and the object (test case, test set, etc) will be locked until the session ends which will take the time define by the siteadmin.

Also please ensure that when you finish your task if you are using a remote pc or virtual pc to log off from all the instances ALM, QTP and the remote/virtual machine. This to ensure that no session is left live.
