MONDAY week #1

The students will be able to learn how to identify roles of family members, name things they learn from their families, and they will learn that working together helps families get jobs done easier and faster. This lesson uses the Houghton Mifflin social studies book Teachers Edition (TE) for first grade, entitled, School and Family, and it consists of pages 26-29.

H1.1.2, H3.1.4

If we have time to do the extend the lesson, make sure students bring back the report on traditions that their families do. Put it in their homework folder. Have the students share these in class the following day.

TUESDAY week #1

This lesson describes ways in which students show they care at school, they recite the Pledge of Allegiance, students are able to share why it is important to respect others, and they are able to give examples of classroom duties. This lesson uses the Houghton Mifflin social studies book Teachers Edition (TE) for first grade, entitled, School and Family, and it consists of pages 36-39.

This lesson involves students reading and answering questions to give them a better understanding of what a community is. This lesson uses the Houghton Mifflin social studies book Teachers Edition (TE) for first grade, entitled, School and Family, and it consists of pages 54-59.

Make sure to enforce classroom rules and that students stay on task when working with partners and in groups. Students will be turning in both worksheets at the end of the lesson.

FRIDAY week #1
