On The Boardwalk
June 15, 2007- Employees at Viva Corporate Headquarters were treated to fun in the sun as they celebrated the Annual Employee Appreciation Day. The front lawn at Viva was magically transformed into The Boardwalk, complete with mouth-watering cotton candy, refreshing Sno-cones and sizzling barbecues. The celebration included game booths that earned its winners lots of colorful stuffed animals. The dunk tank consistently drew a large crowd, anxious to pay a dollar for the chance to dunk a Viva executive into an oversized bucket of water! A total of $420 was raised from this event, in support of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Team spirit was everywhere, especially when it came time for the popular Pit Stop game. Employees were paired from different departments and had to quickly change tires on a simulated car trying to beat each others time. Each player from the winning team won a new road bike. Lisa Cesaro, Dawn Jordan, Vic Klein and Glen Wilkinson, earned winning status with an overall time of 20 seconds. Irvin Randolph was the other lucky winner from the Road Bike raffle. A special thanks goes to Cheryl Grobelny and her department for organizing such an exciting event, as well as Pete Singagliese, Phil Turnage, Steve Moretti, Ken Liming and Cheryl Grobelny for being great sports with their time in the dunk tank.

Great news for all! In an effort to provide optimal service, the Information Technology (IT) department is implementing a new Help Desk functional group and a Help Desk Management system. As part of these exciting changes, Viva has acquired and is implementing ExpressDesk Help Desk Management software system from SoftLanding Systems, Inc. The Help Desk system, being rolled, out will allow the IT Department to better manage all user requests for IT support. An efficient monitoring system by IT management will ensure that maintenance on all requests is performed within prescribed guidelines. John Melnyk, who was recently promoted to Manager, Help Desk Support Services, and Kay
O'Grady, who has come onboard to fill the Help Desk Administrator role, have both installed, setup and configured the system over the last several months. The goal is to provide the best support possible to all users and to ensure that all requests for support are managed appropriately. This will also allow a history of issues to be reviewed and help plan for future enhancements. With training complete, the Help Desk system is successfully up and running!

In a recent cover story, Highmark Vision Holding/Retail Group was cited as a key player and ranked third in
Vision Mondays exclusive 2007 Top 50 U.S. Retailer listing. The August 2006 acquisition of Eye Care Centers of America (ECCA) by Highmark Vision Holdings retail group gave Highmark a strong hold on the number-three position, with Highmarks retail revenues including those of the Empire Vision Centers as well.
