Main Library
There are several libraries on different campuses with a total collection of 3 million volumes. The Main Library provides books, periodicals, pamphlets, ancient books and audiovisual materials in a wide range of fields. For example, there are about 26,000 kinds of periodicals, more than 100 newspapers from all over the world and more than 30,000 electronic materials. The volumes of ancient and rare books amount to 50,000. At present, the Main Library owns the largest collection in Taiwan. The Main Library has been designated as one of the official repositories of government publications and it maintains agreements to exchange publications with over 2,000 academic and research institutions in over 60 countries.
Sports Center
The Sports Center is equipped with various modern facilities, such as a main court, a general court, an indoor swimming pool, a gym, a table tennis room, a squash court, a martial arts room, a dance room, an aerobic room, a judo room and an international conference hall. It satisfies students' needs and interests.

Off-campus Environment
Taipei city is surrounded by the Tanshui and Keelung Rivers. There are highly concentrated highway and railway networks, and a convenient Mass Rapid Transit System (MRT ). NTU is easily accessible from all corners of the city. The famous Yangmingshan National Park in northern Taipei is about one hour away by car. Taipei offers its inhabitants the convenience of metropolitan civilization as well as the relaxed atmosphere of nature.

Program Duration
Except for program of Veterinary Medicine, which requires 5-7 years, other undergraduate programs must be completed within 4-6 years. Master's programs must be completed within 1-4 years and PhD programs within 2-7 years.
Teaching Methods
Most undergraduate programs are lecture courses. Coursework includes group discussions, presentations, study papers and exams. No thesis writing is required for the bachelor's degree. Graduate programs are mainly conducted in seminars, group discussions, research and praxis. Graduate students are required to write a thesis or dissertation as partial fulfillment to complete the degree. A supervisor is very important to graduate students; thus, graduate program applicants are strongly advised to consult the intended institute for suitable supervisors before applying for admission.

Language Requirement
Most of the undergraduate courses are instructed in Chinese. Applicants should have sufficient listening, speaking, reading and writing ability in the Chinese language. A Chinese proficiency test will be held for all accepted undergraduates before enrollment. Those who do not pass the test will have to take additional Chinese lessons for one academic year. The university will support the cost. The language requirements of every program is different. Learning Chinese
There are two language centers in NTU for students who wish to learn or improve their Chinese. Please contact them directly for application. 1. Chinese Language Division, Language Center (CLD) Programs for all levels 4 terms a year (15 hours 12 weeks / winter term is 10 weeks) 4-6 students per class Tuition fee per term: NT$35,000 US$1,130 (winter term NT$29,100US$940 ) Application Fee: NT$500US$16 NTU registered students can attend a special program: 6 hours per week, NT$18,000 per semester.
Besides, CLD also offers courses such as Taiwanese language, individual classes, and 2-3 people classes. CLD also arranges orientation and campus tour for new comers, and there are also spring and autumn excursions to famous cultural attractions.

2. International Chinese Language Program (ICLP) The International Chinese Language Program (ICLP) is an intensive total immersion program tailored to meet the needs of the serious Chinese learner. ICLP offers courses in a wide range of professional and practical subjects both in traditional and in simplified Chinese. ICLP operates only small classes of 1 to 4 students each and runs on a quarterly system. The 32-week Academic Year program spans 3 quarters from September to June, while the 8-week Summer Quarter begins in June and ends in August.

Credit Transfer
The credits gained in prior college or university courses can be transferred by application with approval from the department / institute of intended major. Undergraduate credits may be transferred up to a maximum of 50 credits in total. If the transferable credits exceed 50 credits, the applicant may apply to be admitted into the sophomore year, but no higher. Graduate credits can be transferred up to half of the total credits for graduation required by the graduate institute. Credit transfer application should follow the standard procedure after admission.

Accommodation
International degree students can apply for accommodation. However, the university is NOT able to arrange accommodation for couples or families. Prince (Ch. )BOT House---NTU Chang Hsing (Ch. )/ Shuei Yuan (Ch. )Dorms: Accommodation is provided by Prince Corp. in cooperation with NTU. There are two dormitories: Chang Hsin Dormitory and Shui Yuan Dormitory. The rent for a single room is about NT$7,100 (US$220) per person per month, and a double room is about NT$4,700 (US$150) per person per month. Winter and summer breaks are not free of charge. Internet and water are included in the rent, while electricity, telephone, and cable TV bills are separated. Facilities in the room include independent bathroom, bed (without mattress), table, book shelf, closet, refrigerator, air conditioning, 24-hour hot water, cable TV output, internet, and telephone output. There are spacious communal living areas, the dorm is serviced by a 24 hour manned receptions, meeting rooms in 1F lobby. Bike storage and spacious car parking area (at an additional cost) is at basement level. Sports facilities in building, separate male and female laundry rooms are located at basement level also. Time and cost for public transportation should be considered if living off -campus. It may take up to half an hour one way by MRT to get to the campus and the cost for transportation per month may be about NT$1,000 (US$32). Normally, off-campus housing accommodates 2~4 people in one apartment. Rent is about NT$7,000 (US$190) or more per month per person.

Quali cation
The applicant must qualify for legal student status pursuant to Article Two of the Ministry of Education's "Regulations Regarding International Students Undertaking Studies in Taiwan" of February 1, 2011. Violation of the MOE Regulation will result in immediate cancellation of the applicants admission or the deprivation of the applicants recognized status as NTU registered student, or revocation of applicants NTU diploma. No academic certificate will be given. International students with a high school diploma are eligible to apply for undergraduate studies at NTU; Bachelors degree for Masters programs; Masters degree for PhD programs.
