BITS FROM BRO. DAVE

PERSONAL NOTE: As you read this, Sue and I will be winding up a few days in North Carolina. On Sunday, we are visiting with the Greensboro Christian Church and helping them celebrate their 50th Anniversary. (I was their first full time preacher). SENIOR SAINTS IN THE SMOKIES: Time is running short but you may still register for this great gathering. I have described this as summer camp for those 55 and older. It is held on the campus of Johnson University (formerly Johnson Bible College) just outside of Knoxville, Tennessee. It is a tremendously inspirational and relaxing experience set in the shadow of the Great Smoky Mountains. Our departure date is May 28 and we return on June 1. As of this writing, we have submitted 9 registrations. Contact me if you have questions or would like a registration brochure. WEDNESDAYS: This week we are continuing our study of the book of Galatians. This is a chapter by chapter adventure. I invite you to join us for either the 10:00AM or 6:30PM sessions. SUNDAY EVENINGS IN THE SANCTUARY: This evening, May 6, our special guest speaker will be Scott Brown. I will be returning to the pulpit on May 13. At that time our topic will be, Wine for the Stomach based on I Timothy 1:12-13. Why not be a part of these 6:00 PM worship services each week. (Communion is available.) GIANT PRINT BIBLES: I still have a few of the giant print, soft cover, NIV Bibles on hand. If you would like one, you may see me or stop by the church office. The cost is just $12.50 each. FINAL THOUGHT: At one time The Good Old Days were referred to as These Trying Times.

Ministry Search Update

Our search continues for a Part-Time Childrens Minister/Director and a Part-Time Worship and Outreach Minister. Interviewing has begun for both positions as we seek to find people who are the right fit for Fifth Avenue. Please be patient with the Elders and myself as we go through this process. We appreciate your prayers as it is our goal to move expeditiously yet cautiously in this search. As we move forward, we will inform you of any applicants worthy of hire and set up a congregational meeting for a vote. No matter who comes to Fifth Avenue to serve with the existing Staff, our goal is that they might capture this essence of servanthood: And the master said to the servant, Go out to the highways and hedges and compel people to come in, that my house may be filled (Luke 14:23 ESV).

May 19th Charity Golf Scramble at Pleasant View Golf Course

All the fun begins at 9:00 A.M. We are asking all those who like to golf to please save this date for a worthy cause. All proceeds will be donated to our local Foundation Shelter. Look for a sign-up sheet this Sunday on the bulletin board outside our nursery. We need several volunteers that day at the church and at the course. Please see Brad for how you might serve during this event. Thanks for all of the contributions of water. We mainly need now donations of cans of soda, tea, lemonade, etc. between now and May 19th, so we are asking our congregation to begin donating these products to help defray our expenses. We want to keep our expenses minimal so we can raise as much support as possible for our local Foundation Shelter. Please place all donations at our nursery door entryway. If you have any questions see Brad.

WELCOME TO FIFTH AVENUE! At FACC, we focus on loving God, loving people, and turning the world upside down.

A Call to Holy Living 1 Peter 1:13-21

Brad Seevers preaching

Christ-Centered Worship
We make it a priority every Sunday to celebrate Jesus through our music. (Romans 11:36-12:1-2). We focus on Jesus through grace-based preaching and teaching & understand the Bible is our authority (2 Timothy 3:16).

Church Health and Biblical Balance

Church health becomes reality when God's people seek harmony & live consistently. We expect every member to protect the unity of Christ's Church. (Romans 12:16; 1 Peter 3:8)

Global Evangelism
We are constant to our founding call to worldwide evangelism, proclaiming to all that Jesus Christ is the Savior, Healer, and Soon-Coming King (Acts 20:27).

Fellowship and Ministry

After people begin their journey with Jesus, we will equip them to find a ministry based upon their strengths. We want everyone to serve in some capacity. (1 Corinthians 12:12-27) We also want His church to be the living evidence of His love and power to the world.

How Can I respond today?

________________________________________ At FACC we look to the Bible for guidance on ___ all issues. We believe that Gods Word is clear concerning what a person must do to become a Christian. Trust that Jesus can bring you to salvation. Turn (repent) from the sin in your life. Confess your desire to make Jesus the Lord of your life. Be baptized (immersed) in water for the forgiveness of sins and to receive the Holy Spirit into your life. To make this life decision for Christ, we ask that you come forward during our commitment song at the conclusion of the Sunday message. Baptized believers are welcome to become members at FACC by coming forward on Sunday morning or by seeing our Senior Minister to discuss this further. We ask that you complete a series of Curious classes to help you better understand what you are committing to as a member.

Discipleship
We do not want you to "get religion" here at Fifth Avenue Church of Christ in Lancaster. We are all about teaching you that Jesus seeks a daily relationship with Him through a life of obedience. In other words, we want to see the things you are taught actually change your lifestyle & your daily decisions.

Social Conscience
We place high value on the sanctity of human life, of Biblical marriage and morality, and we welcome ethnic diversity (Isaiah 56:7; Philippians 2:15-16).
