Spirit Filled Yoga connects physical movement with spiritual intention.

Honoring our bodies as temples of the Holy Spirit will bring us into a closer fellowship with God and enable us to become refined instruments. In Him we live and move and have our being. Lets truly express that. Throughout our daily lives our bodies nonverbally express who we are on the inside. Genuinely smiling at a cashier or walking down the sidewalk with a furrow on our brow reveals our inner workings. Nodding your head yes brings on a positive emotion. Shaking your head no creates less positive feelings. By moving our bodies certain ways, we can encourage emotions to be emitted. Sitting tall in your chair feels different than slumping in your chair. Praying with your eyes closed sitting still feels different than when you pray laying face down on the floor with your hands clasped in front of you. I would like to share how practicing movements in our physical bodies gives the potential to change our emotional and spiritual bodies, strengthen them and potentially heal them. Focusing on the nine fruits of the Holy Spirit, each week I will sequence a yoga class that will relate movements to each fruit. It is my goal that each student will bring a curiosity with them about what hope looks like in movement. What does joy look like? And faithfulness? What does your mind think about, and what do you really feel when you challenge your body to do different things? What is Gods place in this? These are intriguing things I am excited to explore with everyone. I will create a supportive environment for all levels of students. The class will use prayer, scripture, music and additional yoga props as necessary. I will provide a limited amount of props such as yoga mats, blankets, blocks and straps. If any student owns their own, I encourage them to bring them. The class will begin promptly at 4pm and last for 60 minutes. Students should wear clothes they can easily move in but not be too loose fitting, and no socks please. I have taught fitness classes for several years and became a Registered Yoga Teacher at the 200 hour level in July of 2011. I currently teach yoga classes at Breathe Holistic Life Center. I am also a certified Body Flow Instructor. At the University of Kansas I studied Environmental Policy and minored in Dance. I studied Biblical Theology at Calvary Chapel Bible College. My day job is as an Administrative Professional and Payroll Specialist at Mize Houser & Company.
