Citizens' Guide from Your Glorious Liberators of the Universal Union

Warning: This article must be in your possession at all times. Failure to cooperate will result in civil punishment

Chapter 1. Greetings, citizen. You are now part of the glorious Universal Union, and will be an instrumental component in the maintenance of world peace, order, and the rule of law. This guide will explain to you the necessities of your peaceful, fulfilling life to come.

Chapter 2- Transfers. As you will notice, transfers are a common aspect of life under our glorious leadership. It is a necessary component in helping to spread labor and resources evenly and prevent traitors from causing too much difficulty between city administrations. As such, the average citizen can expect to be transferred at least twice a year, with further migration occurring if deemed necessary by the Union. Important civil reminders: - Keep personal belongings in easily accessible locations and suitcases and other personal receptacles ready for use at all time. The leadership may deem it at any time necessary to transfer you and your fellow citizens to any location, thus necessitating that you are ready to quickly pack and travel from your current apartment or dwelling at a moment's notice. -Transfers will usually be accompanied by local Civil Protection officers. They will escort you from your residence block to the nearest station, where you will board your designated train to proceed to your newly assigned urban center, -Do not attempt to argue or change your transfer location: this is not only an act of defiance, but will not change anything on your ultimate destination. The only result will be delaying you and your fellow citizens from reaching the necessary transport.

Chapter 3- Arrival. Upon arriving in a new city, it is understood by the Union if you are unsure of yourself and your new surroundings. As such, every possible accommodation has been made ready and at your disposal to help you settle in to your new residence block and assigned work. Important Civil Reminders: -The Civil Workers' Union is usually tasked with helping transfers locate a new residence block. -At each station, a citizen will encounter a registration checkpoint before exiting into the city proper. This will be manned by Civil Protection officers in charge of registering your identity and Civil Workers' Union members tasked with assigning you both employment and a new apartment block. -Once leaving the station, please proceed immediately to your new residence and unpack all belongings. Afterwards, report to your new place of employment to prepare for your work shift the following day. Finally, report to your local Ration Distribution Center (RDC) to claim the day's ration.

Chapter 4- Work Shifts. It is the solemn, proud duty of each and every citizen to provide for the Universal union his every skill and ability so that s/he may work for the betterment of society. As such, work shifts are a required part of your life and will take up a majority of your daily activity. Current employment sectors include: -Assembly Line -Office -Citizen Conservation Corps Other tasks which do not fall into this category are temporary and are assigned to citizens at the discretion of Civil Protection for the duration that their labor is necessary. Important Civil Reminders: -The questions which the CWU will ask you upon arrival which pertain to past experiences WILL determine your work assignment. -Job transfer requests are performed by the CWU based on the needs of the Union- NOT by the personal desires of citizens.

-All works shifts last from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with a 30-min. break for ration collection midday.

Chapter 5- Non-Working Hours. All time between 6:00 PM (End of work shift) to 10:00 PM (Beginning of curfew) is free to the citizen, courtesy of the generosity of the Universal Union. As such, every citizen should take the opportunity to fulfill any and all needs for life that cannot be met during working hours.. Important Civil Reminders: -CWU-sanctioned shops are open from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM. They carry all necessary supplies and goods that a citizen requires but cannot obtain from an RDC. - The Nexus and all non-maintained city areas (referred to as "slums") are off-limits to citizens during their non-working hours. Failure to cooperate will result in discipline at the discretion of local Protection units. - When walking on streets, always yield the right of way to Civil Protection officers and Civil Workers' Union members.

Chapter 6- Curfew. In order to maintain security and safety, all citizens are to report to their assigned housing no later than 10:00 PM. The hours between 10:00 PM and 6:30 AM (City-wide awakening broadcast) are meant for rest and recuperation. Please use them wisely. Important Civil Reminders: -Citizens are forbidden to exit their housing during curfew. This includes leaving an apartment to enter a hallways. Civil Protection officers will be on hand to ensure cooperation. -Excessive noise is forbidden during curfew. Failure to cooperate will result in discipline by local Protection teams. -Lighting in civil housing blocks will be shut off after 11:00 PM.

Chapter 7- Rations. Rations contain all necessary nutrition for a single day. They can and must be obtained from a Ration Distribution Center (RDC) between 12:00 PM and 12:30 PM. Please cooperate t the fullest extent with this time allotment. Important Civil Reminders: -Upon arriving at an RDC, please enter the queue line quietly, and wait patiently for your turn at the Dispenser. -The Civil Protection officer on duty at the Dispenser will ask you to "apply"- to give your full, legal name and your Identification Digits. Please cooperate with this order, or you will be denied your ration. - When stepping up to the Dispenser, please take your Identification Card and insert it into the corresponding slot, which will be located directly above the Dispenser's serial number. This will allow it to register your Identification Digits and grant you your ration.
