2012/2013 ECEAP/ESD scholarship program for Georgia

In the academic year 2012/2013 Estonian Center of Eastern Partnership (ECEAP) in cooperation with the Estonian School of Diplomacy (ESD), the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs is offering scholarships for the young Georgian diplomats and civil servants. The scholarship will cover all expenses related to participation in the ESD nine-month training course International Relations and European Integration in Tallinn (September 2012 May 2013). Training course ESD offers 60 ECTS training course International Relations and European Integration starting on 18th September 2012 and finishing on 31st May 2013. Successful graduates receive the ESD Diploma and the Academic Record. The training course includes three thematic modules: - International Relations - European Studies - Diplomacy The working language is English. The international study group consists of 26 students Lecturers and speakers come from Estonia, Finland, Sweden, Belgium, USA and Russia. Detailed curriculum for 2012/2013 will be available at the ESD web site in April 2012 (http://www.edk.edu.ee). As an example the curriculum of 2011/2012 is given further below Scholarship Scholarship covers all expenses in Estonia related to participation in the training course: - Tuition fee - Monthly allowance (450 EUR) - Accommodation in apartment in Tallinn city center (incl. heating, water, electricty, internet connection) - Health insurance - Visa/residence permit costs Scholarship does NOT cover the costs of travel to and from Tallinn.

Eligibility The person applying for the scholarship: - holds Georgian citizenship, - is not older than 35 years (when applying), - is currently employed by the Georgian foreign, including EU-related, or other civil services with international outreach; or is affiliated within International Relations discipline in a public institution (state university, research institute, think tank), and has been employed there at least one year. - has very good command of English (speaking, reading, writing and listening skills are required on the level of upper intermediate or advanced), - is highly motivated to learn about international relations and related disciplines. Priority will be given for the candidates strongly motivated to continue their professional careers within the field of IR/foreign policy/diplomacy. - is hard working, co-operative and ready for intercultural team work. Application documents The applicant should present: - ESD application form (downloadable on www.edk.edu.ee), - CV in English - motivation letter (0,5-1 page, explaining the reasons for applying and how the studies will benefit for the applicants future development) - copies of university transcript in (unofficial) English translation, i.e. diploma of higher education and academic record - copy of (international) passport, - 1 passport-sized photograph (to be added to the application form). - essay (3-4 pages, 1.5 line space, Times New Roman) written on one of the topics below: 1. 2. 3. 4. International Relations and European Integration


60 ECTS credit points

The aim of the curriculum is to provide knowledge and skills necessary for working in the field of international relations, diplomacy and European Union. The studies are organised as a full-time evening course with classes on 4 afternoons a week from 16:45 to 19:45. The courses include classroom work (lectures and seminars) and independent work which constitutes 3/4 of the whole curriculum. The total amount of credit points obtainable in the curriculum is 69. However, the programme is considered to be completed when at least 60 credit points have been collected: compulsory subjects for 33 credit points (marked as C) and optional subjects for 27 credit points (marked as O). Optional subjects for the fall term must be selected by 30th of September 2011 and for the spring term by 6th of January 2012. In case necessary ESD has the right to makes changes in the curriculum's time schedule.
