Has anyone ever made a mistake?

Examples Definition of Mistake an action or judgement that is misguided or wrong, not correct, an inaccuracy, to be wrong about something accident, not on purpose A mistake is an error when you are trying to do something right. I might make a mistake in my checkbook. I could make a mistake and take a wrong exit off the freeway. I make mistakes when my goal is to do something good and I accidently get it wrong. A mistake is something that comes from deviating from what we desire. We wanted to get to our destination quickly but our wrong turn kept us from doing so. We wanted to know exactly what we have in the bank but our error in math prevented this. We all make mistakes We have long history of making mistakes What was mankinds first mistake? Adam and Eve? Probably but not eating the apple. why not? Think about definition of mistake - accident, not on purpose Was what A& E did by eating the apple a mistake? Or was it something else? Example of a preachers invitation or altar call after preaching his sermon:
"Today is like no other. You are here tonight by a divine appointment. Some of you here tonight are looking for peace inside. Some of you are looking for a way out of your drug and alcohol addictions. Some of you are silently suffering in a failing marriage. And some of you feel an emptiness inside your soul, and just need to know for sure that you are loved. My friend ... you are. I love you, and God loves you, and He has a wonderful plan for your life. He didn't create you to be in pain and suffering, but to know Him and be filled with peace, love, joy, happiness, and lasting fulfillment. He simply wants a personal relationship with you because He knows that what you need to be truly happy. "But something keeps you from having this relationship with God, and it is called 'sin.' Let's face it, we've all made honest mistakes. You're not perfect, I'm not perfect, nobody's perfect. But God doesn't expect you to be perfect, that's why He sent His Perfect Son so that you could have that relationship with Him again. "If you will just admit your honest mistakes to God and say 'yes' to Jesus as your Savior, He will come into your heart and you will become a child of God. You will never be alone again, because you'll have Jesus, the ultimate friend riding 'shot-gun,' guiding you through life. That is eternal life the abundant life Jesus came to give you. Would you like to have that life, that peace, that joy, that friend? "If you want to know Jesus and find what you've been looking for, then invite Jesus into your heart. He's been waiting for you. He's been waiting for this very moment. Come now and simply accept Him."

What is wrong with this invitation? Honest mistake call it what it is -- SIN Sin is not an honest mistake It is an honest choice from a sinful heart to do what you know is wrong.

Would a good judge describe the crimes of a vicious murderer or rapest as honest mistakes?

So what makes a sin different from a mistake? Sin is when I know something is wrong and I choose to either ignore my conscience or I just do it anyway. We don't make mistakes if we steal from our employers, cheat on our spouses or knowingly hurt other people. We sin. How does God define sin in His Word: Sin is transgression of the Law (1 John 3:4). We are held accountable for our sins, and God doesnt view us as innocent misguided victims of our honest mistakes. In Gods holy eyes, our hearts are desperately wicked and deceitful (Jer. 17:9) and we are by nature, children of wrath. God calls them as he sees them. He is not politically correct. God sees hatred to be as wicked as murder (1 John 3:15), Anyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life in him. and lust as deceitful as adultery (Matt 5:27-30). You have heard that it was said, Do not commit adultery.e 28But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. 29If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. 30And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell. It is better for us to experience the pain of removal like breaking a bad habit or getting rid of something we treasure (false idol) that to allow sin to bring you judgement and condemnation In Gods world, those who lie are liars. If we have stolen, we are thieves. If we have broken Gods Law in any way (in word, thought, or deed) we are Lawbreakers. We are sinners Sin is a violation of a law outside of ourselves. These universal rules are embedded in our sense of right and wrong. Conscience We receive this because we are made in the image of God. You can try to ignore this and say it isn't true but you can't escape the truth or even the feeling of guilt. Since God is holy, sin distances us from God. It grieves the Holy Spirit. It makes a void in our life. That place created for God is left empty. This is why when the excitement of the sin dissipates we are left feeling very lonely. Ignorance of Gods Law is no excuse, because He has written it upon our hearts ( Romans 2:15). Even Gentiles, who do not have Gods written law, show that they know his law when they instinctively obey it, even without having heard it. 15They

demonstrate that Gods law is written in their hearts, for their own conscience and thoughts either accuse them or tell them they are doing right. We all have a conscience. We all know right from wrong. When we lie, it isnt an honest mistake. Stealing and lusting, hating and blaspheming, idolizing, coveting, and dishonoring our parents are not honest mistakes either. Scripture says that we have actually angered God by violating His Law, and made ourselves enemies of God, and therefore, are by nature, children of wrath, storing up wrath for ourselves that will be revealed on the Day of Wrath (see Romans 5:8, Ephesians 2:1-3 and Romans 2:4-5)

So whats wrong with calling Sin an honest mistake? We like this wordmistake instead of sin because when you catch me sinning, I can say, "Aw, my bad; my mistake." Takes away responsibility on our part. There's a big difference between a sin and a mistake. If everything I do wrong can be dumbed down to where it's just a mistake, then that makes me a mistakerwhich means I don't have sin in my life. If I don't have sin, I'm not a sinner, and if I'm not a sinner, I don't have any need for a Savior. If you're just a mistaker, then all you have to do is do better; if I'm a sinner, then simply trying harder isn't going to get it done. You know what you often do is intentionalthat it wasn't a mistake. No one feels much guilt about a mistake, but you do for sin. If there was no sin, and you're not a sinner, and there's no need for a Savior, where is all that guilt coming from?

We are not doing sinners any favors when we minimize the seriousness of their sin. It is only when a person sees his sin as wicked and understands the seriousness of offending his Creator, that he can find a place of true repentance and surrender to the Savior. Within the last 100 years, a new gospel has crept into our churches. It has been designed to not offend you. It has been carefully crafted not to be too in your face. It gently suggests that you open your heart to Jesus if your current lifestyle isnt working for you, and try God when the time is right for you. This seeker centered and no offense approach is no gospel at all; it is another gospel. If we continue to define sin as honest mistakes, we will continue to fill our

churches with backsliders and false converts who fail to repent because they dont see the seriousness of their sin. We will give them a cruel false hope, and make them comfortable aboard the Jesus loves you pleasure cruiser, singing songs to the Captain, while they blindly speed toward the iceberg of Eternal Justice. The Captain has already lowered the life boats of salvation, but they are mostly empty. God help us to stop the music, and sound the air-horns. We must tell the passengers about the iceberg and direct them to the emergency exits of repentance. Time is slipping away, and those who die in their sins will perish. If we are faithful servants to the Captain of our Salvation, we will obey his Commands and preach the pure gospel, the only gospel that can save souls.
