Tara na! Sulong na!

Lubos akong nagpapasalamat sa mga pinuno at kawani ng buong pamilya ng Kagawaran ng Pagsasaka sa matagumpay na pagdiriwang natin ng nakaraang Pasko. Natutuwa ako na nakilahok ang lahat sa masaya nating pagtitipon. Maraming salamat po! Ngayong taon, dalangin ko sa Poong Maykapal na bigyan tayo ng panibagong sigla at dedikasyon upang sama-sama nating harapin ang mga hamon na dala ng ibat-ibang salik sa sektor ng agrikultura. Nasimulan na natin ang pagtatanim ng mga binhi ng pagbabagokabilang na ang pagpapalakas ng serbisyo ng Kagawaran, at maigting na pakikipag-ugnayan sa mga samahan ng mga magsasaka at mangingisda, mga lokal na pamahalaan, at iba pang katuwang sa larangan ng agrikultura. Kaalinsabay nito, palalawigin natin ang kakayahan ng mga boss ng kabukiran at pangisdaan upang higit pa nilang mapalago ang kanilang ani at kita, maiangat ang kanilang kabuhayan, at mabigyan ng magandang kinabukasan hindi lamang ang kanilang anak kundi maging ang susunod pang mga henerasyon. Sa ilalim ng Agri-Pinoy Strategic Framework pauunlarin pa natin ang mga sakahan at pangisdaan tungo sa mas magandang bukas para sa mga malilit na magsasaka at mangingisda. Lalo nating pagtitibayin ang ating pagkakaisa upang makamit ang adhikain tungo sa kasapatan sa bigas at mais, at iba pang pagkain, at makapag-hatid ng sapat, abotkaya at masustansyang pagkain sa bawat pamilyang Filipino. Naway patuloy tayong gabayan at pagpalain ng Poong Maykapal upang makamit natin ang ating mga hangarin. Manigong Bagong taon sa inyong lahat!

2010 DA Christmas Celebration

The merriest to date. Thus declared most, if not all, of DA-OSEC officials and employees of their yuletide celebration on December 17, 2010. Firstly, the man of the house, Sec. Proceso Procy Alcala, stayed from the Christmas presentations of the DA-OSEC Services until the last piece of the guest band, The Bloomfields was sang. Secondly, more than 100 Christmas gift items, mostly home appliances, were raffled off to lucky officials and employees. Thirdly, two musical bands (Perihelion and Bloomfields) rendered some of the most popular Christmas carols, rockand-roll, and disco songs. Senator Francis Kiko Pangilinan, chair of the Senate Committee on agriculture, also graced the event and gave a cash gift that was raffled off. Comedienne Jacque Oda hosted the event as well as DAs home-grown talents Neil Baldoza, Weng Genete and Jet Aranas. In between DA-OSEC service presentations and raffling off of prizes, Sec. Procy mingled with everyone, sang Christmas carols, and danced with employees, getting down to their feet and discoed the night away with the 60s and 70s music

provided by the young Bloomfields band. Expectedly, Sec. Procy had his picture taken with almost everyone of the 500 plus DA employees during the affair. Nine DA-OSEC services delighted the crowd with their respective Christmas presentations, which were judged by Sec. Procy himself and other DA top officials. The Information Technology Center for Agriculture and Fisheries, and OSEC executive

staff, with their respective Hawaiian and modern music dances, tied for first, receiving P15,000 each, while the Planning Service placed third. Before the year closed, Sec. Procy visited and shared yuletide greetings with officials and employees of DA-OSEC services, and other DA bureaus and agencies. He likewise extended New Years greetings to other agencies on January 3, 2011.(Pls see photos at centerspread and back pages.)
