Waktu : 08.00 09.30 wib Pengampu : Nor Basid Adiwibawa Prasetya, S.Si., M.Sc. Peserta Ujian/NIM : Laksmi Dewi P / J2C009037 Email : laksmi037@gmail.com Jawaban: 1. a. Judul Artikel: Photocatalytic self-cleaning properties of cellulosic fibers modified by nano-sized zinc oxide

b. Abstrak: Nano-sized zinc oxide was synthesized and deposited onto cellulosic fibers using the solgel process at ambient temperature. The prepared materials were characterized using several techniques including scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction and thermogravimetric analysis. X-ray diffraction studies of the ZnO-coated fiber indicate formation of the hexagonal crystal phase which was satisfactory crystallized on the fiber surface. The electron micrographs show formation of zinc oxide nanoparticles within 1015 nm in size which have been homogeneously dispersed on the fiber surface. The prepared materials show significant photocatalytic selfcleaning activity, which was monitored by diffuse reflectance

spectroscopy. The photoactivity was studied upon measuring the photodegradation of methylene blue and eosin yellowish under UVVis irradiation. The photocatalytic activity of the treated fabrics was fully maintained performing several cycles of photodegradation. Keywords: Cellulosic fiber; Coating; Photocatalysis; Selfcleaning; Nano-sized zinc oxide

2. Judul Artikel: Novel 3-alkanoyl/aroyl/heteroaroyl-2H-chromene2-thiones: synthesis and evaluation of their antioxidant activities. Singh OM, Devi NS, Thokchom DS, Sharma GJ. a. Nama jurnal: Europen Journal Medical Chemistry
b. Volume: 45 c. Issue: 6 d. Tanggal terbit: 2010 June e. Halaman: 22502257 f. Abstrak: A facile, convenient and high

yielding synthesis of a combinatorial library of3alkanoyl/aroyl/heteroaroyl-2H-chromene-2-thiones has been developed by the condensation of easily accessible oxodithioesters and salicylaldehyde/substituted 2hydroxybenzaldehydes under solvent-free conditions. The assessment of radical scavenging capacity of the compounds towards the stable free radical2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl

(DPPH) was measured and these compounds were found to scavenge DPPH free radical efficiently. Five selected compounds were able to protect curcumin from the attack of sulfur free radical generated by radiolysis of glutathione (GSH). The newly synthesized compounds exhibited profoundantioxidantactivities. Five of them rendered comparatively high antioxidant capacity. 3. a.
