Teacher Guide Objectives

(Specify skills/information that will be learned.)

Individual: By the end of this lesson the student should feel confident in their ability to drop kick a soccer ball. Community: At the end the class should have had fun learning how to work as a team and show each other support. Discipline Specific: By the end of this lesson the students will be able to perform the three steps to the drop kick accurately, and know when to use the throw in in a soccer game. For this lesson students will be shown the three steps to the drop kick and will then practice the steps along with the instructor. After demonstrating that they know the three steps the students will find a partner and line up on the side lines. Once the students are lined up and ready to go they will get a ball and begin practicing the throw in. One partner from each group will throw in while the other student stops the ball and rolls it back to them. The students will switch places allowing the other student to throw in the ball. Frame- Explain the lesson and rules to the class and go over safety instructions. Activity- During this time the students will be instructed on how to do the drop kick. The students will be taught the three steps to the drop kick and will then begin practicing by doing the activity with their partner and will be assessed by myself and the teacher. Closure- Do an overview of throw in and when they use it during a soccer game. Individual- I need to make sure that I know all the information that I am giving to the students about the drop kick. I also need to make sure that I am comfortable with the lesson and am ready to present it to the class. Student- I need to make sure the correct accommodations are in place for my students, and that they are all ready to do this lesson. Staff- I need to meet with my teacher and make sure I am addressing all the information she wants me to address. Following my instruction I will walk around and watch the students demonstrate their throw ins and assess their progress. This is a lesson that will teach students the drop kick and prepare them to use it in a soccer game. The three steps to the drop kick are, 1) to stand with your feet apart, 2) to step back with one foot and extend your arms out in front of you with the ball, 3) drop the ball and kick it in. Following this activity the student should be able to use the drop kick in a soccer game.
