The Chargers rst tested out a pilot program in 2006 to help reduce the number of off-the-eld incidents players were experiencing in social settings. As a result of its continued success, services are now available in all NFL cities as well as parts of New Jersey, Maryland, Portland, Los Angeles and Orange County. To request a driver, NFLPA members call the toll-free number provided in their membership packet. The driver can either drive the individual home in his own vehicle or provide driving services for an entire evening. Even with added passengers, the driver will pick up or drop off clients guests prior to arriving at the nal destination. Whether players are at the Super Bowl or out for a night on the town in a team city, Safe Ride is there to provide players with a service that will ensure their safety and peace of mind, Robinson said.
