BACKGROUND Gujarat is fast emerging as a rapidly developing state of India. Industrial production is increasing and exports are also growing. It is well accepted fact that quality of products and services play significant role in (a) growth of business, (b) increase in exports and (c) developing global competencies of industries. It is equally important to know the problems and challenges faced by industries in management of quality. Given this background, Ahmedabad Management Association (AMA) has initiated this Survey on Quality Management Systems in the industries of Gujarat. It is expected that findings of the Survey will be useful to small, medium and large industrial units in developing/improving efficient quality management systems that will further help in business development, growth in exports and in building global business competencies.
