OVERVIEW
The purpose of the project is to construct a website that consolidates everything gaming related, including developer content, trailers, reviews, and display it in an organized blog format. The website primarily needs a template and framework that will cater to the gaming audience. The user experience is very important in relation to your market audience. To be successful, we have to target their interest with a comprehensive video game website that provides user friendly navigation. The major web technologies that will be used are HTML5+, JavaScript, PHP, Ajax and MySQL. The main goal of the proposal is to evaluate the goals and specifications for your project, determine accurate schedules and budgets, web technologies, milestones, as well as other important details.

TARGETED AUDIENCE
As a game review website, your primary target audience are new and veteran gamers. You are providing gaming information that appeals to established gamers and gain interest from new gamers. To support this, we need to know some facts about our target audience. The ESRB has released several facts based on research of the gamer audience. The average gamer is approximately 34 years old. The average age of video game purchasers are 39 years old. The average adult has been playing video games for approximately 12 years. 2012 Gamer Ages

25% Under 18 49% 18-49 26% Over 50

0 10% 20% 30% 40% 50%

The age of your audience is key to how your website will look and function. According to these statistics, 75% of your targeted audience are adults. We dont want to alienate the younger population, so to compensate, there may be minimal graphics in relation to menus and key modules on the webpage. Why? The younger population loves to look for icons rather than reading text. By combining the two methods, it will appeal to both audiences as they use and interract with your website. A clean UI (User Interface) is common throughout all age groups. It makes finding content and navigating the website easier, while making it more attractive overall.

TARGETED AUDIENCE
Forty percent of all gamers are female. With this particular statement, it may be necessary to start focusing on the fact that there are more women than ever in the gaming market today. Perhaps, instead of designing for a dominant male market, designing the website for both gender audiences will increase your sites traffic and interest.

ESRB Computer and Video Game Sales

17% 48% 23% 12%

Everyone Everyone 10+ Teen Mature

We also need to keep in mind what is most popular in regards to video games. What should be put on the front page to attract as many visitors as possible? According to the graph released by the ESRB, 60% of your viewers will be looking for E or E10+ rated games. By putting information linking to this content on the front page, users will be more likely to view your website, thus creating more traffic.

MARKETING PLAN
Consolidated Gaming Goodness Summary Weve already established your target audience in the previous section and went over a few things that might make the website appeal more to your viewers. Here is a breakdown of what we need to keep in mind: 1. 75% of our audience are adults, 25% being children or eldery. 2. 40% of our audience is female. 3. 71% of our audience plays E-rated games. Blog sites typically have a lot of information, most of which are not organized very well. A clean UI and a well organized site map will solve this problem and is a common factor liked by all audiences. Even though 75% of your users are adults, we dont want to alienate the others. The previous suggestions will cover the elderly, though we still need to appeal to the younger demographic. Having small icons beside menu names will help the younger users. When navigating, we need to use little information and restrict content to the articles and blogs. Forty percent of women are active in the gaming community, eighty percent of which are most active with Wii consoles. Small tweaks should be made to the Wii page that will subconsciously cater to the females in this particular section of your website. Overall, the initial front page of your website should be family friendly. From video games, to content, a large scope of demographics will be viewing your website, looking for reviews and other information on the game of their particular interest. Problem Statement We need to be able to compete with the leading game related websites. Services Your website, www.gamereview.tv, is a non-profit website that consolidates all game-related information, including independent games.

MARKETING PLAN
Overview of Market Opportunities The graph below was taken from Ever Geeks publishing of the revenue of the Worlds Online Gaming Community from 2007-2012. The online industry is steadily increasing to approximately fourteen billion dollars. This community is not without resources. Online gaming communities frequently require websites that link to information regarding the games they play. Since you are a non-profit website, you can generate most of your income through advertisements targeted at your users interests. An ad that links to an independent or upcoming video game is more likely to receive clicks than one that is featuring business cards. Overall, the business has a high chance of success, especially seeing how gamers tend to support more than just a single source of information.

MARKETING PLAN
Competitor Analysis There are several other websites that offer some of the same services that you do. Game Trailers, IGN, and Gamespot are three major competitors that we are going to focus on. Game Trailers www.gametrailers.com Game Trailers is one of the most influential sites on the web in regards to gamerelated content. They cover everything on all of the main titles. The problem is that independant games are very often overlooked. Covering these small and upcoming developers will give you a firm grasp on some of the more elusive demographic. IGN (International Gaming Network) www.ign.com IGN is still another game review website, very much like Game Trailers. The same problem persists that IGN typically does not cover independent video games. Gamespot www.gamespot.com This website is not unlike the prior two. Not only is there a noticable pattern between these (and perhaps all) gaming websites, but they all seem to be lacking some content that they may deem unworthy. To give an example, Minecraft was in a Beta testing stage for several years. None of the game review websites followed the information of the small game, which was developed by Notch, until the game officially launched and had so much popularity, it couldnt be overlooked. Covering these games early will help to bring awareness to your website and help to build reputation throughout.

MARKETING PLAN
Advertisement Approach The best approach to advertise your website will be through Google Analytics and SEO (Search Engine Optimization). Because we have found a consistent pattern through all of the major gaming websites, targeting the independent games will be your best approach. Getting early coverage on these games that are unheard of will set you apart from Game Trailers, Gamespot and IGN. Covering the major titles as well as these will help inform all of your users and build a trustworthy relationship. Now that you have coverage on a video game that is not reviewed or monitored by any of the major competitors, users will now have a reason to view your website instead of theirs. When users leave your website, they will feel informed and satisfied at the information youve provided for them.

BASELINE ESTIMATE
Please be aware that this is not a quote. The details for payment, pricing and all deliverables are available in the Creative Brief. This is just an estimate to give you an idea of the production process and how much it will cost. Phase One Phase one consists of all pre-production for the project. This includes certain documents such as the Creative Brief. In this period, we will define goals, create budgets and schedules, list deliverables, assemble a team, develop audience profiles, determine user testing plans, outline the technical requirements, build staging areas, and finally kick off the project. You will be working with the Project Manager throughout Phase One and into the rest of the development. Phase Two In Phase Two, site structure, navigation and page flow are being developed in conjuction with an informative design. The skeleton of the website is built and content acquisition begins. Phase Three Art and HTML production are introduced in Phase Three of the project. They will begin working on a virtual design, combining conceptual direction, tone and functionality, and the overall look and feel of your website. Here, the artists will also identify your unique branding, copy flow and manage the incorporation of your content into the design. Once that is finished, an HTML protosite is built and tested for usability. Phase Four At this time, the artists have optimized all graphics. The developers have the HTML production and basic scripting ready. Any custom scripting is created during this phase. Once the designers and the developers have completed all tasks, the site is then tested for quality assurance and usability. The feedback is then used to debug the site. Content is frozen until the official launch date. Phase Five The project is finished and ready for launch. In a Post-Mortem Meeting, you will meet with the Project Manager to address Maintenance and Marketing.
