"To my surprise, the accurate fit of the PFM restoration of the sterilized impression was flawless. Two impressions were taken on the prepared tooth. When comparing fabricated restorations based on the conventional methods, I could not detect any significant difference respective to the sterilized impression. CLOSING THE HYGIENE GAP

Research shows that a large number of impressions are either never or inadequately disinfected. And self-disinfected impressions are in many cases colonized with micro-organisms. Spore-forming bacteria or the dreaded MRSA, self prions, the elicitor of Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease, can be particularly stable and environmentally-resistant. They can only be killed by steam sterilization. Until now, typical hygiene protocol for impressions was limited to surface disinfection. However, with legal hygiene requirements becoming stricter, autoclaving is now possible. All AFFINIS Impressions will remain dimensionally stable and accurate down to the last detail, despite heat sterilization at 273F/134C in the autoclave. AFFINIS impressions offer the highest precision and a sterile, secure environment for the practice team, dental lab technician and patient.

DIMENSIONALLY STABLE AFTER AUTOCLAVING

Complex computer tomographic and clinical measurements as well as comparisons confirm the outstanding dimensional stability of the optimized AFFINIS Impression Materials even after autoclaving. A current study from Dr. Brian Millar et al. at King`s College London Dental Institute substantiated the quality of the AFFINIS Impression Material, Adhesive (Coltne Adhesive AC) and Tray System (PRESIDENT Tray AC). Comprehensive clinical studies from dentists and dental technicians demonstrate that highly precise and safe autoclavable impressions with accurate-fitting restorations are possible, regardless of the impression technique and material consistency used.

Approximately 50 billion bacteria reside inside the oral cavity. From the estimated 500 types, most of them have a useful function. Among them however are still dangerous germs which can cause disease. All AFFINIS Impressions are now autoclavable at 273F/134C. With autoclavable impression trays and a special adhesive (Coltne Adhesive AC), there is now a system available to effectively close the hygiene gap in your practice.

"The accuracy of both PFM crowns was absolutely identical. The crowns from the sterilized impressions and the not sterilized impressions could be exchanged on the model without any difference in the fit. The PFM crowns also provided a congruent integration in the mouth. The fit for both crowns was very precise. The clinical testing demonstrated that the impression with a dual-arch Tray and material combination of AFFINIS heavy body and AFFINIS PRECIOUS light body can be autoclaved."
