JOIN CWA 9408 IN TAKING A STAND AGAINST DEREGULATION: PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION PUBLIC HEARING ON SB 1161
THURSDAY, MAY 10, 2012, 8:30 a.m. FRESNO CITY HALL
AT&T is sponsoring another corporate power grab at the expense of California consumers and CWA workers. California Senate Bill 1161 would end enforcement of basic consumer protections, including: Service quality standards, protection against "cramming," and help resolving customer complaints No more protection for low-income customers, like "LifeLine," and low cost service to rural customers No universal access for under-represented communities No enforcement of privacy rights No contract review with women, minority, and disabled veteranowned businesses It's a rip-of for California consumers and a job-killer for CWA members! The California Commissioners will be discussing and taking a position on the bill at their May 10th meeting.

CWA D-9 West Bargaining Bulletin #45, May 7, 2012 Today the Company heard you! Wow! What a show of support! To all of you: Thank You! The Company and the Union at the highest levels spoke about the problem in the West. Your actions and show of solidarity have brought the Company to ask, What can we do to get the folks back to work? The response is to get back to the table and give us a response to our healthcare including Kaiser and show some respect for the Prem Techs! Start moving the retrogressive proposals off the table. Vice President Jim Weitkamp had a call with all of the Local Presidents commending them for their efforts and shared the committees feelings of profound pride and overwhelming sense of accomplishment at what our members have shown in the way of solidarity! The Company has told Jim that they will be calling us to the table with a Healthcare response including Kaiser and a proposal on the Prem Techs that will get us moving in the right directions. This has happened as a direct result of our members resolve and support of the bargaining team and their fellow members. On behalf of the Bargaining team: Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!
