The Kabayao Family chose the violin as their medium in music because their children were raised to play this instrument. According to Mrs. Kabayao, their daughters, Farida and Sicilienne, started very young. They were only 3 years old when they were introduced to play the violin. They started performing on stage even when they do not how to play the violin yet. They used play toy violins, instead, while their parents perform live classical music. What is Classical Music? At three, he started improvising short piano pieces in minuet style and at six he was under his fathers tutelage, learning violin, and his mother, learning piano lessons. He also studied in New York and in Vienna. In 1978, he was the musical director of the Manila Symphony Orchestra. He has performed in several countries including Belgium, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore. AWARDS: 2nd Prize, International Violin Competition, Academia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Rome, 1952 Ten Outstanding Young Men Award, 1961 Award of Recognition from Music Promotion Foundation of the Philippines, 1966 Presidential Award of Merit, 1969 Ramon Magsaysay Award for Public Service, 1972 Patnubay ng Sining at Kalinangan Award, 1979 Corzaon Pineda Kabayao Corazon Pineda Kabayao has a Bachelor of Music degree in UST's Conservatory of Music, graduatingmagna cum laude. Distinguished throughout her college years as a university scholar and recipient of the University Rector's Medal, the highest award given for academic excellence. Forming a musical partnership with her husband Gilopez spanning 35 years, she lent her artistry and skills in various highly acclaimed performances from past to present. A woman of multiple greatness, she also works behind the limelight as business administrator in arranging family concerts, managing agricultural farms and family enterprise, making four-violin arrangements of the music for the family concert repertoire, over-all planner for the Spiritual, Educational, Medical and Cultural thrusts of the Gilopez Kabayao Foundation, Inc., and executive producer and wardrobe designer of major cultural productions and straight plays under the Arts Council of Iloilo Foundation. An affectionate mother and one of the Philippines' finest pianist, she started teaching her children piano at a young age of 2. Since then their children added more merit to their renowned name with their own achievements. Sicilienne Pineda Kabayao Sicielienne Kabayao, at three , has since participated in her family's musical concert tours in the United States and Canada. At ten, she won in Voice and

Violin categories in the National Music Competition for Young Artist (NAMCYA), and was invited as the first featured violinist at the Young Winners Concert in Hong Kong in the same year. She is a Broadcast Communications graduate from the University of the Philippines in the Visayas. She has performed with the Philharmonic Orchestra on the celebration of her father's 48th anniversary of his Carnegie Hall Debut.

Farida Pineda Kabayao Farida Kabayao, is a natural performer at heart. She performed in My Fair Lady, a stage play produced under the Arts Council of Iloilo Foundation, where it was shown both here and in Manila. She has powerful characterizations and display of passion as a theater actress, essaying prominent roles such as Anne Frank in the Diary of Anne Frank, Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady, Anne Sullivan in the Miracle Worker and a host of other roles. She completed a Bachelor of Arts degree, Major in History also from UP in the Visayas. At 12, she too, was a winner of the National Music Competition for Young Artists (NAMCYA) in Violin Category. I liked The Swan (from Carnival of Animals) by Saint-Saens and Allegro Assai Appassionato. For me these are the top two musical pieces. The Swan was very calming to the ears. I was able to imagine a particular scene when they were playing this. I also liked Allegro Assai Appassionato because it gave the audience a different kind of vibe, a more energetic one. Actually I liked every piece they played during the Kabayao Family Violin Quartet Lecture Recital. I never appreciated classical music until I heard them play. I realized that this kind of music really soothes your senses and it brings positive vibes. It also gives you different kinds of emotion. Each piece represents a certain feeling. I will rate the artists 9 because I am not really a fan of classical music but when I heard them play, I was really captivated and amazed. I enjoyed the whole experience. I was really thankful because I had the chance to watch the Kabayao Family Violin Quartet perform live.
