Alfonso Art Appreciation Artwork project Due April 30, 2012

The first mode I drew is one event in my life that happened ten years ago. On the left side is a flag of the Philippines while of the right side is the flag of the United States. I drew a sad face in the middle of the flag of the Philippines because I wanted to show what I felt when I left the Philippines which is full of sadness. And During my journey from the Philippines to America I felt really sad, and confused and made because I didnt want to leave the country I grew up with. I drew these emotions in the middle, which shows straight lines; break up lines, as well lines that goes around in a circle. The reason for that is because I felt like those lines represents the rough times Ive experience in my life, in addition to angry and sad faces that I included in it. Colors are everything most likely; you can tell what the artist is trying to apply when they use colors. Which is why in my artwork of expressionist I use black for sadness and yellow for happiness. In addition I drew smiley faces in the middle of the United States because after everything I been thru I could actually be happy living in the United States. My second artwork represents Realist, this artwork is very plain, a rose. The reason I drew a rose is because it connect to the one event I drew in my first artwork called expressionist. After I came to the United States and felt happy that is the time when my boyfriend gave me a rose and asks me to be his girlfriend. Its been four years

and we are still standing strong. In this drawing I wanted to make it look like real. Due to the fact that I am not the best artist I made it plain and simple so that I could show the meaning of realist mode. In this drawing I drew the flowers and culled it red and colored the leaves green because in real life thats the color they are suppose to look like. I also colored dark pencil the background because I felt like it would not look like a cartoon rose but instead real rose. The third artwork I drew is abstract. It doesnt have any meaning or emotions. I drew myself in this picture but made it look like it doesnt have any meaning. Just a portrait. I use examples of a painting named of Hans Holbein to create this piece of artwork. I use different colors so that when a person looks at it they will be able to tell that its an abstract work. The colors and shapes do not have any meaning or purpose like the one I used in my two other artworks.
