9th Honors Literature Unit Outline- George Orwells Animal Farm Essential Questions: Can you identify an authors

purpose through the development of allegorical parallels? Can you analyze a text for the rhetorical patterns found in propaganda? Through what methods does an author develop satirical writing? What is the purpose in utilizing the fable? Over the weekend, find an advertisement from a magazine or newspaper that clearly manipulates language and reflect upon what methods the ad employs. Read and annotate chapter 4. Writing: Imagine how Snowball might have run things if he had gotten rid of Napoleon. Would things have been any different? Are there indications that Snowball's ideas for running the farm would have proved more beneficial to the animals? Or would things have turned out the same? Read and annotate chapter 6.
