Dyer Review
Theres a spiritual solution to every problem is a book written by Wayne W. Dyer and it was published in 2001 by HarperCollins Publishers in the United States of America. The book has 269 pages and it is a well-structured book. Wayne Dyer is the bestselling author of more than twenty books and has a doctorate in counseling psychology. Dyer holds a Doctorate in Educational Counseling from Wayne State University and was an associate professor at St. John's University in New York. He first pursued an academic career, publishing in journals and running a successful private therapy practice, but his lectures at St. John's, which focused on positive thinking and motivational speaking techniques, attracted students beyond those enrolled. His books Manifest Your Destiny, There's a Spiritual Solution to Every Problem, and the New York Times bestsellers, 10 Secrets for Success and Inner Peace, The Power of Intention, Inspiration, Change Your ThoughtsChange Your Life, Excuses Begone have all been featured as National Public Television specials. The book is suitable for most ages. Anyone interested could read it, but in my opinion, children wouldnt understand it very well. I chose this book for reviewing because I read it several times and I found it very accessible and very helpful. Dyer makes you understand through this book that most of our problems are just in our mind and one of the most important things I have learned is how to achieve inner peace. A whole chapter is devoted to methods of stop giving energy to the things you dont believe in. This is my favourite chapter. What I like about this book besides the fact that it gives me spiritual direction, guidance and inner peace, is that Wayne Dyer includes little stories from real life related to the subject of each chapter for supporting his statements. Dyers book should be read because it opens you a new perspective on life and I believe there are a lot of things to be learned from it. I find the book very interesting and suggestive. In Theres a spiritual problem to every problem the author offers compelling testimony on the power of love, harmony and service. When confronted with a problem, be it illness, financial worries or relationship difficulties, we often depend on intellect to solve it. But in this inspiring book, Dyer shows us that there is an omnipotent spiritual force at our fingertips that contains the solution to our problems. Drawing from the various spiritual traditions, especially from the prayer of Saint Francis of Assisi, Dyer helps us unplug from the material world and awaken to the divine within. The first part of the book provides the essential foundation for spiritual problem solving, drawing from the wisdom pf Patanjali, a Yogi mystic; the second half focuses on the legacy of Saint Francis. Dyer offers specific practical applications for applying the teachings of these wise men to everyday problems, including affirmations, writing exercises and guided meditations. He explains that it is essential to be an

instrument of thy peace, to choose and deliver peace to the world. You become what you think about all day long. (p. 153) Problems are only illusions. The author uses the techniques of persuasion to establish the truth of his statements. The purpose is to persuade the reader to believe something and perhaps to act on that belief. His purpose is to make people understand that thinking is the only source of problems and that our heart holds the answer to solving them. I think he accomplishes his purpose because Theres a spiritual solution to every problem is not difficult to read and he doesnt use scientific terms. His book is very well developed. He uses a formal style and his style of writing is defined by coherence, clarity, originality and fluidity. The author uses explanation and analysis to present the subject and to clarify his ideas. All the pieces of information he gives are relevant to the topic. In his arguments I found him very convincing. I think the second part of the book, Putting spiritual problem solving into action is the most effective part because it is exactly what people should practice and learn to practice such as being an eternal optimist and staying in truth. In my opinion, the first one, Essential foundations for spiritual problem solving, isnt that effective. Dyers perspective influence his conclusions. This is his way of living, having inner peace and sowing love. "My belief is that the truth is a truth until you organize it, and then becomes a lie. I don't think that Jesus was teaching Christianity, Jesus was teaching kindness, love, concern, and peace. What I tell people is don't be Christian, be Christ-like. Don't be Buddhist, be Buddha-like. (Wayne W. Dyer) I recommend this book to everyone because we all have problems and difficulties in life and sometimes we just dont know how to face them. I think Dyers book is a very good guide to solving problems, any problems. Our lacks come from failure to understand Gods law. (p. 130) What is unique and valuable about this approach as opposed to others is his way of thinking and his own beliefs about God, life, problems and spiritual solutions. You can not have God and have fear too. Every fear represents a disbelief in God at that moment. (p. 127) His conclusion is that if we learn to sow peace, love, pardon, faith, hope, light and joy we will eradicate virtually every perceived problem that we encounter. These seven elements will blot out the illusion of turmoil, hatred, injury, doubt, despair, darkness and sadness. This book really has something for everyone. I would recommend the book to others anytime.
