ABSTRACT

Human learning is fundamental process that involve the making of error. It
means that making error is fundamental process in students learning, teacher should
pay attention to this problem in order to give correction and explanation of the students
error especially in their speaking. The students should produce good pronunciation or
good speech, in order to listener can hear and understand what speaker say.
This research is aimed at analyzing and describing the students pronunciation
error in their speaking. The error give benefit as a feedback to the teaching learning
process. By knowing the errors, the teacher will be able to help the students to avoid or
to minimize making error.
The population of this research is students at the second semester in the tenth
class of SMK Muhammadiyah I Metro that consist of 44 students, and the sample is all
of students. In here, the writer used cluster sampling technique. Because the students
achievement is still less. To know the kinds and sources of students error the writer
record, analyze, describe and classified the students speaking to know the kinds and
sources of students error and the writer uses the descriptive statistics technique.
Based on the data analysis, from 44 students the writer found 1.476 items and
381 were made and 1.084 correct of pronunciation in their speaking. It means that the
students pronunciation errors in speaking of the the second semester in the tenth class
of SMK Muhammadiyah I Metro is still low.

Manusia pada dasarnya belajar dari kesalahan. Ini berarti bahwa berbuat
kesalahan adalah proses mendasar dalam pembelajaran siswa, guru harus
memperhatikan masalah ini dalam rangka untuk memberikan koreksi dan penjelasan
dari kesalahan siswa terutama dalam berbicara. Para siswa harus menghasilkan
pengucapan yang baik atau ucapan yang baik, dalam hal ini pendengar diharapkan
dapat mendengar dan mengerti apa yang dikatakan pembicara.
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis dan menjelaskan kesalahan
pengucapan siswa dalam berbicara. Kesalahan memberikan manfaat sebagai umpan
balik kepada proses belajar mengajar. Dengan mengetahui kesalahan, guru akan dapat
membantu para siswa untuk menghindari atau untuk meminimalkan pelafalan atau
pengucapan yang salah.
Populasi penelitian ini adalah siswa semester kedua kelas sepuluh (AP) SMK
Muhammadiyah Metro yang terdiri dari 44 siswa, dan sampelnya adalah semua siswa.
Di sini, penulis menggunakan teknik sampling populasi, karena prestasi siswa masih
kurang. Untuk mengetahui jenis dan sumber kesalahan siswa penulis menganalisa,
menjelaskan dan mengelompokkan siswa agar berbicara atau bercakap-cakap untuk
mengetahui jenis dan sumber kesalahan dari siswa, dalam penelitian ini penulis
menggunakan tekhnik deskriptiv statistik.
Berdasarkan analisis data, dari 44 siswa penulis menemukan dari 1,476 item
bahwa 381 adalah salah dan 1,084 benar dalam pelafalan. Ini berarti bahwa pelafalan
dalam berbahasa siswa kelas X ( AP ) semester ke dua SMK Muhammadiyah I Metro
masih rendah.

CURRICULUM VITAE

The name of the writer is Siti Qolbiyah. She was born in Surabaya Ilir,
Lampung Tengah on December, 21, 1987. She is fifth child of happy couple, Masirun
and Zariatun.
She was enrolled Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Surabaya Ilir finished on 1999, continue
to MtsN 1 Surabaya Ilir finished on 2002, and continue to MA. MaArif 02 Gaya Baru
II finished on 2005. She continued her study in English Program Strata I (SI PBI) in
State Islamic College of Jurai Siwo Metro from 2005 until now.
