Introduction
Calenberg Ingenieure have developed a sliding bearing which has proved its suitability for more than twenty years in practical applications. This bearing is named Ciparall and is registered under the Trademark as Ciparall. Ciparall Sliding Bearings are designed and engineered for high load, low coefficient of friction applications. They should not be compared to multi-layer thermo-plastic thin sliding sheets or coated laminated elastomer plates and similar. These alternatives to the Ciparall Sliding Bearings have shown questionable behaviour in practical applications and conditions over the years (Bibliography 1 & 2). For Ciparall Sliding Bearings the functional characteristics are calculable and the functional data of the bearings is the result of research and development and may be used for static calculations with confidence. Extensive official approval, experts opinion, conformation to DIN Standards and proven long-term functional ability, is your guarantee for a reliable working product when using Ciparall Sliding Bearings.

Product Description
Calenberg Ciparall Bearing is a combined sliding and compression bearing. The bearings sliding ability is independent of its compressive performance (picture 1):
q
20 30 40
Angular distortions and load adjustment are accommodated by durable elastic compression layers. Cross tensile forces, unevenness of the support area and long term creep deformation are not transmitted into the sliding layer. The format stable sliding area remains even and parallel, the sliding characteristics are maintained. These are the criteria for functional ability and safety. Calenberg Ciparall Bearings are produced in two standard types (picture 2): q Ciparall Sliding Bearing, GRP (glass reinforced plastic) q Ciparall Sliding Bearing, ST (steel reinforced) The dimensions of the GRP sliding plate are determined in length and width by the expected movements in these directions (picture 5).
Perm. ua [mm] corresponding to building part movement in direction of bearing length: u in direction of bearing width: ub All sides: ul,b Example: The length and width of a rectangular GRP Sliding Plate are for all horizontal movement: l1 = l + 2ul b1 = b + 2ub [mm] [mm]

Materials
Weather and ageing resistant materials are used for Ciparall Sliding Bearings:
q
Elastic bearing deformation and sliding movement do not influence each other. Mounting, manufacturing and contact area differences are equalised resiliently in the elastomer section. Point and strip loads are not transmitted to the sliding area. The sliding area remains even and format stable. Friction values: The sliding characteristics are proven in regard to the long life of a building under centric and eccentric loading. The results are shown in picture 3. High permissible vertical load. Simple mounting, no special finishing required.
The elastomer is made from a synthetic material called chloroprene (chemical short sign CR) according to Guidelines of the German Institute of Building Technique, Berlin. Glass reinforced plastic (GRP) according to K-quality sign (RAL), glass fibre polyester plates. Polytetrafluoro-ethylene (chemical short sign PTFE). Weather resistant steel WTSt 52-3 according to the Guidelines for a Delivery, treatment and Application of weather resistant structural steels fulfilling the demands of DIN 17100.
