Extrapolation Project Artifact 1. Please provide a detailed summary describing the artifact and its purpose. In this project we worked in pairs to predict how many new cases of HIV there would be in a country in the future. To predict, extrapolate, how many new cases of HIV would happen we had to use a polynomial equation to predict results in the future. Through this project we concluded that the rate of cases was increasing. In the project my partner and I worked on finding the cases of HIV in the country Swaziland. We research why people were getting HIV and things that were blocking the process of helping people to not get HIV. We also research how others were helping people form Swaziland from this virus. We also became more globally competent about world disease. 2. Identify and list the GLPO(s) that were satisfied in completing this artifact. In addition, please explain how these GLPO(s) were met by specifically referring to the examples or evidence from the artifact. (Please specifically refer to the indicators within each domain, and do not simply state that you Took Action or Communicated Ideas.) The GLPO(s) that was satisfied in this project was Recognize Perspectives, Take Action, Communicate Ideas, and Investigate the World. In this project we learned how the lack of knowledge about HIV affected the people of Swaziland and how it continues to affect them. We also learn how because they don't know much about HIV they think differently from us, who are educated about it. In our project we also wrote ways that can help prevent HIV, such as telling them basic information about the virus and how to treat it. We took action by coming up with ways to help stop the spread on HIV, and knowing that it wouldn't just drop the numbers like random. We communicated ideas by using the internet to gather information about a different country and how something is affecting them and writing how it is affecting them over the years and how it will continue to affect them. We investigated the world by researching about information about Swaziland and how the HIV virus is affecting them over the years and how it is affecting them in the present. 3. What skills and concepts were learned throughout the process of completing this artifact and how these affect your future? I learned many skills in the process of creating this project. I learned how to find valid information on the Internet concerning the information I needed. I learn how to use Microsoft, Excel, to make mathematical equations and how to use the program to present them differently, like graphing. I also learned how to use polynomial equations to predict things in the future. I learned how to create a white paper. I also learned many concepts in the process of creating this project. I learned about the statistics and facts about a world disease. Completing this project has affected my future in a good way. I learned many new skills that will most likely help me in the future. One example of a skill that can be applied to many things is being able to use a polynomial equation to predict things. Also learning about a country has made me more globally competent about the world than I have before. 4. Looking back on the process of completing this artifact, what might you do differently if you were able to recreate or revise the final product? How has process of completing this artifact positively affected your future?

My partner and I got a good grade so there was not much we could change. I would have tried to work on it for a longer time. I would have tried to not procrastinate as much in the completion of this project. I would have researched more facts about the disease to help make the project better. I would have also tried to revise the white paper to make sure there was nothing wrong with it. I would have checked the math more so that I can make sure that the equation that my partner came up with was okay. I would check the grammar and spelling on the white paper.
