The Team

Foreword by: Captain Mac McDonaldUnit Welfare Officer

Hi and welcome this months E-edition of Any Old Iron. Can I take this opportunity to thank everyone for there support. The move from a costly monthly print, to that of a new Electronic Version has been far easier than I expected, and will ensure we retain the ability to advertise all relevant information we receive on a monthly-basis, not just that which we can fit in. We will continue to produce around 100 paper copies, however these will be for Single Service Personnel and for Dept coffee rooms. The unit Facebook Site, 3 Div HQ and Sig Regt, has been extremely successful and since going live in late April 2012 has had in excess of 1300 hits. As stated last month the primary purpose of this site is information passage, without the necessity to bombard people with mobile texts or indeed Emails. Please click on, have a look and select Like, this will provide a shortcut to your own Facebook, and ensure you see updates as and when they are published. In addition, remember if you wish to advertise something please feel free to drop us a short email and I am sure we can assist in getting the message out. If you are already a regular visitor of the site, you will have seen the entry regarding The future of the Armed Forces Pensions. Please, please log on and complete this questionnaire. The statistics to date are showing that the RN and RAF are completing this far in excess of the Army. Great if we all want a RN/RAF pension; however, I expect we all want to see a new pension that is supportive of all three Services. So please log onto the Hyperlink and ensure we get the Army perspective over! Looking forward we have the Signal Regiment Jubilee Medal Parade on Fri 8 Jun, followed by the Annual Families Day, which is open to all unit personnel and their families be that from the Divisional Headquarters or the Signal Regiment. As in previous years it has the makings of a fantastic day and this year will see the Welfare Team proving the Tea and Cake stand for SSAFA and the Chips and Curry Sauce for that of ABF and the Big Curry. So come along have a great day and lend a hand in raising some cash for two great Service Charities. There are a host of other events being run for the Jubilee, all of which can be found at the Drumbeat website or that of the Wiltshire Government site. So there is plenty on to keep the adults and children occupied during the Term-Break. Finally, just a reminder that we hold the unit Coffee Morning on Thursday 1000-1200hrs. This is an excellent opportunity to tell us your concerns, moreover meet new friends. The Signal Regiment will deploy to Afghanistan in May 13 and this forum provides a great opportunity to meet the team and other families that will have loved ones deploy. So why not come along for a coffee and a chat, we can even provide toast and juice for the kids!
