Strenuous
Good physical condition, crossing high passes upto 5400m, mixed terrain with walking on boulders, glacier, steep ascents and descents, long walking hours upto 8/9hrs.

Hemis Museum Stunning landscape Markha Valley High passes Panoramic views from passes Climb of Stok Kangri The Markha valley is by far one of the most beautiful valleys in Ladakh and a popular destination due to the proximity of its whole circuit to Leh. A varied trek across high passes with tremendous views of the snow capped mountains, gorges, arid landscape dotted with villages with their colorful elds of mustard and barley and meetings with locals make this trip a trekkers delight. However, on this particular itinerary, we do not take the standard route but begin from the little village of Chilling. We cross the Zanskar River by cable to meet with our horses on the other side which joins the popular route at Skiu. At the end after crossing the Kongmarula, we make a diversion into a lesser known but again another beautiful valley with high pastures and great views to Stok Base Camp and the ultimate highlight of our trip the summit of Stok Kangri (6137m).

On this trip we will trek through the lesser travelled Ripchar Valley , cross the Zanskar river by cable pulley to trek into the popular Markha valley before moving to higher grounds and the base of Kangyatse to climb the left shoulder of Kangyatse a peak requiring just the basic mountaineering skills an excellent ending to this wonderful trek.

We spend a second night here enabling us to visit the surrounding villages of Deskit & Kyagar (Samstaling monastery) before continuing on the trek across the Lasermola (5400m) - truly a most wonderful trek through an impressive gorge, pastures, meadows with owers during August and chances of seeing marmots and may be bharals. The Lasermola pass though snowbound is not very demanding as we ascend gradually and would have been well acclimatized by our several days around the Leh valley. The pass offers unsurpassed views of the Karakoram, Zanskar and Ladakh range of mountains and valleys on either side. We end the trek at Phyiang village with a visit to its famous monastery.

To show the distinct variety of landscape, which is an attractive feature of the southern Himalayan foothills, we take a route through the lush green Kinnaur valley to the high mountain desert of Spiti. After a fascinating train ride to the British Raj hillstation of Shimla, we drive on the old Hindustan to Tibet road, through forest, rice elds and apple orchards, to the remote district of Kinnaur to begin our trekking in Kafnoo to cross the Bhaba pass. This major watershed crossing is part of an ancient trading link between Kinnaur and Spiti and is still used by the nomadic Gaddi herdsmen who travel widely throughout these Himalayan foothills. After visiting some of Spitis ancient monasteries, drive across the Kunzumla pass (4550m) to Manali from where we return to Delhi.

The scenery changes once you cross the pass into the Pin and then the wide at Spiti valley with barley terraces on the valley sides with rocky cliffs towering high. Mani (prayer) walls line the village path with its stone houses. A few days are spent in visiting the ancient and dramatically situated monasteries before we drive across the Kunzumla pass to end in the the well known hill station town of Manali.

Dotted with beautiful high altitude lakes and passing several passes, this trek gives the opportunity of viewing Kanchenjunga not only once at a specic high point but several times over the days as you cross the passes. This trail nally joins with the main west Sikkim trekking trail at Dzongri where the options are either to continue to Goechala the nal view point where the left shoulder of Kanchenjunga stands just 9km away as the crow ies or descend to Yuksom for those with time limitations. The advantage of this trek is that it is a round trip. Still a relatively new trek, the Sikkim Ridge trek promises to be among the best with its crowning glory of Kanchenjunga seen from several vantage points along this trek. We take an introduction and acclimatization trek along the famous Singalila Ridge. This prominent spur of high ground lies at the southern end of a long crest, which runs down from Kanchenjunga itself, and forms the border between Sikkim and Nepal. The trek along this ridge going through small settlements is renowned as being one of the most scenically rewarding in the entire Himalaya.
