1) Diuretics
Diuretics sometime called water pills help rid your body of salt (sodium) and water. They work by making your kidneys put more sodium into your urine. The sodium, intern, takes water with it from your blood that decreases the amount of fluid flowing through your blood vessels, which reduces pressure on the walls of your arteries. There are three types of diuretics and each works by affecting different parts of your kidneys and each may have different uses, side effects and precautions which diuretics is best for you depends on your health and the condition being treated. 1.1) Thiazide 1.2) Loops Diuretics 1.3) Potassium Sparing

1.1) Thiazide Drugs: i) Hydrochloro Thiazide Band Name: Diuza, Urozide Dose: 25mg

ii) Indapamide Brand Name: Baploro, Natrilix Dose: 2.5mg

1.2) Loops Diuretics Drugs: i) Frusemide Brand Name: Aquasin, Basix, Elusen, Sluromac Dose: 20-80mg (as single dose daily or alternate days)

1.3) Potassium Sparing Drugs: i) Spironolacpone Brand Name: Aldactone, Diuton Dose: 50-100mg per day initial (congestive cardiac failure 400mg daily)

2) Ace-Inhibitors
Angiotension antagonist prevents the conversion of angiotensin1 and angiotensin2. Drugs: i) Captopril Brand Name: Acetopril, Apolex, Appil, Bantoril, Lapopen, Capril, Captil, Capto, Vasotoene Dose: 12.5mg twice daily with thiazide

ii) Enalapril Malate Brand Name: Acelar, Alphrin, Amotac, Cardace, Carbil, Sardiopec, Enace Dose: 2.5mg underclose hospital supervision

iii) Fosinopril Brand Name: Aksopril, Monopril Dose: 10mg once daily

iv) Cisinopril Brand Name: Coversyl Dose: 4mg once in morning

v) Qinapril Brand Name: Accupril, Makupril Dose: 2.5mg

vi) Ramipril Brand Name: Adytum, Hiare, Hyperace, Mapril, Ramcil Dose: 1.2mg once daily

vii) Trandolapril Brand Name: Gopten Dose: 0.5mg once daily

3) Arbs
(Angiotension2 receptor blockers) block angiotension2 from the AT that are found in many tissues. Drugs: i) Candesartan Brand Name: Advan, Atasart, Blopress, Lanaxit, Candes, Canditensin, Canrec Dose: 8mg once daily

ii) Eprosartan Brand Name: Teveten Dose: 600mg once daily

iii) Irbesartan Brand Name: AHT, Aprovel, Goodday, Zepose, Irecon Dose: 150mg daily

iv) Losartan Brand Name: Aceartin, Acertan-p, Anhibit, Eziday, Losan Dose: 50mg once daily

v) Telmisartan Brand Name: Mictel, Normisar Dose: 20-40mg once daily

vi) Valsartan Brand Name: Angiotan, Listan, Diovan Dose: 80mg once daily

4) Ca-Channel Blockers
Ca-channel blockers stop calcium influx into the cell. Drugs: i) Amlodipine Brand Name: Adoptin, Amdipine, Amdocal Dose: 5mg once daily

ii) Diltiazem Brand Name: Angizem, Calcard, Calcicor, Diltiazaf Dose: 60mg t.i.d

iii) Felodipine Brand Name: Felpine, Plendil Dose: 5mg once daily

iv) Lercanidipine Brand Name: Leradip, Zanidip Dose: 10mg once daily

v) Nifedipine Brand Name: Adalat, Nifedil, Adipen Dose: 10mg three times a day

vi) Nimodipine Brand Name: Bredim, Nidopin Dose: 1mg for hour (IV)

vii) Verapamil Brand Name: Calam, Isoptin, Zavera Dose: 82-320mg twice daily

5) Sympatholytics (beta-blocking agent)

Sympatholytics are sympathetic depressant BAB Beta adrenergic blockers (olol) drugs. Drugs: i) Atenolol Brand Name: Atenolol, Atelor, Atenblock, Ateno-heart, Atenocard Dose: 52-100mg once daily

ii) Bisoprolol Brand Name: Biscat, Biscon, Bisprol, Concor Dose: 10mg once daily

iii) Carvedilol Brand Name: Cardeva, Cadilol, Cardew Dose: 12.5mg once daily

iv) Labetalol Brand Name: Labetalol Dose: 100mg twice daily

v) Metoprolol Brand Name: Lopresor, Merol, Carsel Dose: IV up to 5mg at rate 1-2 mg per minute

vi) Nebivolol Brand Name: Nebil Dose: 5mg once daily

vii) Propranolol Brand Name: Betanol, Cardinal, Hyporide Dose: 160-320mg daily

6) Dav (Direct Acting Arsteriolar Vasodilators)

Act on the smooth muscle of arteries. These medications are used mostly in a hypertensive crisis or emergency. Drugs: i) Prazosin Brand Name: Minipess Dose: 0.5mg

ii) Hydralazine Brand Name: Hydralazine Dose: 25mg twice daily
