PRAYER AND PRAISE

Please pray that the Lord would guide the elders in their upcoming board meeting as they discuss avenues for future ministry. Please pray for the Lord's provision and guidance for those in our church family who are looking for new work, or for more work. Please pray that as a church, we would be sensitive to the Lord's leading, and be responsive to His conviction and leading in our lives moment by moment. Pray for preparations for two summer English camps in Taiwan, to be led by teams from C&MA churches in Minnesota. Pray that God will equip each team member who is coming to serve. Also, pray that the hearts of the elementary children will be responsive and for opportunities to connect with their families.

We know that it can take a lot of energy to attend a new church, so please note that: The toilets are located down the passage to the right as you exit the sanctuary. We have a crche available diagonally from the sanctuary should you wish to take your infant out from the service. The Childrens Ministry begins part way through the service. This is for children between the ages of 3 13 years. Information on who we are, as well as on all of our ministries are available online at www.whac.net.nz Each week, we share a cuppa together after the service, and would love for you to stay for a chat.

Straight Thinking ....... (Chuck Swindoll) Have you ever felt the ground move under your feet? Do you know what it's like to pitch from side to side in a small boat on strong seas? Have you ever had to run for cover, dodge bullets, or duck out of the way of advancing troops? Remarkably, some people around the world could answer, Yes! to all three questions. Most of us only imagine such scenes. Still, everyone sooner or later faces the reality of feeling as if life is spinning out of control. That may describe you today. Left unchecked, fear will run its course and paralyze you to the point of helplessness. If you're not careful, you'll spend your days wringing your hands and obsessing over your encroaching circumstances. That will cause you to focus on what might happen instead of what God has promised. Not Paul. He understood something about the sovereignty of God. That clear understanding allowed him to think straight and remain calm in crisis. That kind of straight-thinking calmness is rooted in the promises of God's Word. Take, for example, the promise in Psalm 46: "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change and though the mountains slip into the heart of the sea; though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains quake at its swelling pride" (Psalm 46:1-3 ). Like Paul, we need to learn to think straight, even if the foundations of the earth shift beneath our feet. That takes a heart willing to trust His Word, submit to His plan, then deliberately and consciously relax. If He was able to stir up four hundred and seventy-two earthly bodyguards to get Paul from Jerusalem to Caesarea, safely and securely, He will have no trouble getting you from here to wherever He wants you to be, safely and securely. After all, how many angels are there? And by the way, when you think straight about all this, you'll realize you only need One.

A chance to help those in need . On the weekend of 25 27 May 2012, Dianne McGowan is going to take part in the 40hour Famine. She watched a programme on a Christian TV channel about the children in Africa who are starving and suffering terribly with related illnesses and it was placed on her heart to do something for these children, even it is only in a small way. If you would like to sponsor Dianne, with donations either big or small, your generosity would be very much appreciated. A Financial Update Thanks to your faithfulness in giving, we are currently10% ahead of our giving targets for the current financial year! What a wonderful surprise! That act of worship and sacrifice, coupled with some under spending, means that our current deficit is only $1,139 rather than the $6,000 it was projected to be at this point. Praise the Lord, and good for you! At WHAC, we give financially as an act of worship, and we trust that God is blessed and honoured in all of our expressions of worship, thanks, and praise!
