IN THE PRESENT set-up of our so-called democracy where muscle power and money are ruling the nation

there is an urgent need for the youth to unite and take charge of political affairs of the country in order to impose the faith of a common man in democracy. In India youngsters are not given any importance, this can be proven by a fact that most of the heads of youth organizations are persons aged above 40 or sometimes even 60 plus. I wonder sometimes, how a person above 40 years can be termed as a Youth. India needs a movement to eradicate the evils of Corruption, Red-Tapism, Mafia raj etc. The educated class of youth should be promoted as the representatives of the largest democracy in the world; they have the vision, compassion, dedication to do something meaningful, all they need is support. Youth can be the saviours of democracy which will otherwise be concentrated and exploited at the hands of the rich and mighty. The problem here arises in the present mental set-up of youngsters who only want to study and indulge themselves in a 9-5 job, earning a handsome amount of salary from their foreign employers. They should understand that if they stand united there is nobody who can stand against them, they are the power house of energy and should motivate the citizens to exercise their right and give them a chance to make a change in our country. Ours is a young country and the power of youth should be utilized positively in order to make India even more powerful. They should provide some rest to our ageing politicians who have given so much to our country like caste divisions, reservations, unemployment, corruption, poverty etc. Our current democratic leaders have presented an entirely new definition of the word Democracy which means government elected by the people from the power of money and to earn the money. On one hand politicians oppose castecism and on another they introduce reservations, what kind of hypocrisy and double standards are these? I think they have ruined the future of millions of youngsters to safeguard their own vote-banks. The young generation should promote a single sacred religion of Indian and urge people to vote for the candidate based on his character and work rather than on his caste or religion. The young leaders should promote relaxations in fees for poor segment and should oppose reservations based on caste or religion. They should chalk out an overall development plan for the country and promote rural industrialization, privatization of ailing government sectors, employment opportunities, eradicate illiteracy, corruption etc. The youth has the power to present a new face of India in the global market and the talent to make India a developed country. All these factors are the only options left to instill faith of common man in democracy. We must understand that a nation can only progress on young and innovative minds. Its the duty of every Indian family to motivate and promote their children to come forward and reconstruct our nation for the sake of the worlds largest democracy comprising of 100 crores of citizens. The future of India lies with the generation X of today.

Democracy in its purest or most ideal form would be a society in which all adult citizens have an equal say in the decisions that affect their lives.

The most common form of modern democracy is parliamentary democracy in which the voting public takes part in elections and chooses politicians to represent them in a Legislative Assembly. The members of the assembly then make decisions with a majority vote. A purer form is direct democracy when the voting public makes direct decisions or participates directly in the political process. Elements of direct democracy exist on a local level in many countries, such as the use ofreferendums in California and other US States, and Open Town Meetings in New England states and Landsgemeinden in two Swiss Cantons, though these systems often coexist with representative assemblies. Usually, this includes equal (and more or less direct) participation in the proposal, development and passage of legislation into law.
