Two Kinds of Cells: Eukaryotes and Prokaryotes

Reading: All Cells have cell membranes, cytoplasm, and DNA. But, there are 2 Basic types of cell: Prokaryotes & Eukaryotes. Prokaryotes: Are single celled organisms that do not have a nucleus. But, they do have DNA. The DNA is a long, circular molecule free floating (not inside a nucleus). They are very small, and simple cells. They do not have many membrane bound organelles, but they do have 1 type of tiny organelle called Ribosomes which the cells need to make proteins. Example Prokaryotes are Bacteria cells. The prefix Pro=means Before, The Root word Karyo=means Nucleus

Two Kinds of Cells: Eukaryotes & Prokaryotes (Part 2)

Reading: Eukaryotic cells are larger cells than prokaryotic cells. They do have a nucleus that holds the cells DNA. Eukaryotic cells also are more complex and have many membrane bound organelles. All living things that are not bacteria are made up of 1 or more eukaryotic cells. Examples of Eukaryotic cells include : Single cells= Yeasts and amoebas. Plant cells and Animal cells are made up of many eukaryotic cells. The prefix Eu=means True, The Root word Karyo=means Nucleus.
