Application Letter for Teachers format should goes like this: To: Name of the Principal or the President

of the school/university (if theres any) The name of the receiver of your application letter should be written in capital letters. You should also write his or her position below the name. The position should be leveled on the first letter of the name and not under the To: . It is no longer need to write a Subject: of your application letter. Sir: (or Madam: ) You should know the gender to whom your application letter will be sent. I am sure this info could be easily researched, but you can always write Sir/Madam: if you are not sure. Depending on what introduction you feel comfortable to start with, but I would like to suggest you start from I am. and it goes like this: I am (your complete name), (dont forget the comma) a graduate of Bachelor in Secondary Education major in (your major and minor). If you are already an expert or seasoned teacher you should immediately write: I have been teaching for a couple of years now in ( or you can mention the exact number of years you have been teaching) the school/ university with its present address at ( name of the school you taught) with its present address at (the address of the school). That should be your introductory paragraph to be followed by the information how or where youve got the information that their school is in need of additional teachers. Do not take this for granted because most of the time, schools, colleges and universities are using advertisement to get the perfect applicant for their additional faculty. Since we usually search the job market for teachers over the internet, I would like to compose it giving emphasis that you found the advertisement through the internet. And it goes like this: I have been browsing the internet for job for teachers and come up with the website: (put the link or the url of the website here). While browsing the posted teachers job over this website, I came across with the post stating you are in need of additional faculty to handle English related subjects (specify the subject here if theres any). Based on my experiences in the teaching field and my earned knowledge, I am confident to tell you, I am fit for the position, and so, I decided to apply. I think that paragraph has more than enough information about their advertisement. I would like to emphasize that you can make this part an introductory paragraph too. I have attached my credentials and other pertinent documents for your reference and further evaluation. Should you feel I am qualified for the position, I can be contacted at this number and email address. It will be my honor to be one of your faculty. Thank you very much. Truly yours, (or Sincerely yours,) You name in capital letters and your signature over it. Again, this is only a sample application letter for teachers. You can always modify it to suit exactly what you need. Teachers, happy job hunting.

pril 13, 2002 Jennifer Marks Superintendent, Basics North Supervisory District 10 Apple Lane Ourtown, VT 01234 Dear Ms. Marks: I am writing to express my interest in and excitement about a possible elementary teaching position in the Basics North Supervisory District for the 2002-2003 year. I will have completed all requirements for my Vermont Elementary Teaching Licensure upon my graduation in May. As a psychology and elementary education major at Saint Michaels, I have pursued a varied course of study that has provided me with a significant understanding of child development and pedagogy. While working in elementary classrooms, I have had the opportunity to observe a variety of teaching styles and to teach in schools with widely varying curricula and philosophies. I have benefited from the advice of teachers, learning specialists, and administrators in very different classroom environments, private and public, urban and rural. Aware that students respond best in a multitude of different settings, I have learned how to incorporate a variety of approaches into my teaching: personal reflective and writing time, collaborative group work in brainstorming, compiling, and organizing information, class discussions, and animated, teacher-directed learning. During my student teaching semester, I worked with students of all ability levels while helping them to meet the Vermont Standards in all content areas. My academic background thoroughly augments my student teaching experience, giving me a high level of confidence in my ability to teach students in various grades. Furthermore, given my liberal arts background, I am comfortable integrating art, music and technology into a traditional curriculum where appropriate. Throughout my college career, I have exhibited leadership skills which I fully expect to take with me into any school environment. Dating back to my middle and high school years, I have been a strong advocate of and participant in community service. I have continued my interest in volunteer work while at Saint Michaels where I have been part of the M.O.V.E. (Mobilization of Volunteer Efforts) core team and have participated in the Extended Service Program, volunteering in rural Kentucky and Selma, Alabama during spring break. All of these opportunities have made me knowledgeable and sensitive to the diverse cultural, social and learning needs of elementary-age children. I have come to recognize and appreciate the value of maintaining a strong home-school relationship, and I have worked hard to nurture this among my own students and their families. I firmly believe in being involved in my school community well beyond the classroom so that I may provide a supportive and effective learning environment for each child in my care. I have enclosed a copy of my resum, a completed application, an unofficial transcript, and three letters of recommendation. An official transcript and additional references are available upon request. I would appreciate an interview with you at your convenience. I will be returning to my home in New York following my graduation on May 12. However, I can be contacted at my campus address prior to that date. Thank you for your time and consideration. Sincerely, Amanda Peach Saint Michaels College Box 0000 Colchester, VT 05439 (802) 654-0000 enclosures

Sample Cover Letter for a Teacher

I have a very strong interest in pursuing a teaching career. With experience working at both the elementary and high school levels, as well as in activities outside of the traditional classroom, I have a diverse background with much to offer. My first classroom teaching experience was as a volunteer elementary school religion teacher at a local church where I worked for three years during high-school. In addition, I worked for several summers at a Sunny Beaches Arts Camp teaching theater, where I staged a play each season. I have student teaching experience on the first and third grade level, in both suburban and urban school districts. I particularly enjoyed working with "at-risk" children and careful preparation of lessons allowed me to break down sometimes complicated concepts to simple examples that my young students could grasp. Last year, while studying in Milan, I taught English to high school students. Managing the difference of abilities among my students proved a difficult, but satisfying, challenge. I tailored activities to maintain the interest of high-level students without intimidating less skilled English speakers. My resume is enclosed. I will forward an official copy of my transcript along with references under separate cover. I will contact you next week to discuss employment opportunities. I look forward to speaking with you. Thank you for your consideration. Respectfully yours, Signature
