Poetry Recital

If you think you can, you can. If you think you cant, attend my program -Krutika B.
Icebreaker: Rhino, Deer, Elephant, Monkey, Dog Instruction: Do as I say [not as I do] Raising Self-Esteem: How many small round balls/circles can you draw in a minute? Just write the number in top left hand corner. As I say start give your best and draw as many small circles as possible. At the end it is found that most participants achieve a number greater than they had originally estimated. Learning: If we value our abilities less, we will achieve mediocre success. Let us understand that there is a lot of potential in each one of us. Once we give nothing but our very best, we will receive the best. Have greater self-esteem and dream bigger. Deaf to Criticism: Narrative: Two frogs in the milk This is the story of two frogs. One frog was fat and the other skinny. One day, while searching for food, they inadvertently jumped into a vat of butter-milk. They couldn't get out, as the sides were too slippery, so they were just swimming around. The fat frog said to the skinny frog, Brother frog, there's no use paddling any longer. We're just going to drown, so we might as well

give up. The skinny frog replied, Hold on brother, keep paddling. Somebody will get us out. And they continued paddling for hours. After a while, the fat frog said, Brother frog, there's no use. I'm becoming very tired now. I'm just going to stop paddling and drown. Just then, some other frogs came by. The two frogs who were drowning were happy and thought that help was coming. But instead the frogs on top started criticizing the frogs in the buttermilk. You should have thought of coming out before jumping in said one. After listening to criticism from other frogs, the fat frog said, We're doomed. There's no possible way out of here. But it looked as if the skinny frog just didnt hear other frogs. It said, Keep trying. Keep paddling. Something will happen, keep paddling. Another couple of hours passed. The fat frog said, I can't go on any longer. There's no sense in doing it because we're going to drown anyway. What's the use? And the fat frog stopped. He gave up. And he drowned in the buttermilk. But the skinny frog kept on paddling. Ten minutes later, the skinny frog felt something solid beneath his feet. He had churned the butter-milk into butter and he hopped out of the vat. When he came out, other frogs surrounded him and said, when we were criticizing the fat frogs, you didnt listen and kept paddling. How come you were not demotivated by our remarks. The skinny frog said, Excuse me, could you speak a little louder? You see Im a little deaf. The skinny frog was deaf and thought others were motivating him because of their wild gestures. Friends, when others are criticizing us and are trying to demotivate us and wish to put us down, let us remember to be deaf to criticism like the skinny frog. Let us welcome empowering thoughts and beliefs and develop the Yes, I can attitude. Remember, lifes

battles do not to the man who thinks he cant but rather to the man who thinks he can. SWOT ANALYSIS SWOT Analysis a tool that can be applied to individuals as well as institutions. SWOT stands for Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats. While Strengths and Weakness are internal, Opportunities and Threats are external. Please discuss various strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of yours. Remember, at the end of the discussion, we will make a list of our individual strengths, weaknesses, the opportunities available to us and the threats that we will have to counter. Please use a copy of the SWOT Analysis template for your reference. [SWOT Analysis Template attached separately]

e.g. Once we have identified our Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats we will be in a better position to convert

our dreams into a reality. But for that we must prepare a blue-print for success. It has been rightly said If you fail to plan, you plan to fail. We need a plan that will help us on our way to success. Remember, dreams are not for those who sleep. Indeed, dreams are those that do not allow us to sleep. In dreams begins responsibility. Our dream is our responsibility. Let us now devote some time to understand goal-setting that will enable us to set targets and achieve them. What is a goal? A goal is a dream with a deadline. SMART Formula for Goal-Setting Specific: What, exactly, is it that I want to achieve? Measurable: How will I know Ive achieved it? Achievable: What is my realistic desire (10) x the possibility (10) = __ /100 Relevant: Why am I doing this? Is it really what I want? Time-bound: When will I achieve this by?

ME-CHART After indulging in SWOT Analysis and Goal-setting, the participants now will have to prepare ME-Chart that will reveal their understanding of self, their drivers, goals, plans for success and a host of factors that influence success. Questions that will guide as keys to stimulate thinking for ME-Chart will be given. Old magazine, gum, scissors will be provided to participants. The participants are expected to flip through old magazines, pick up visuals and art work that will reflect their answer to the questions posed to them. For example, one may use the picture of an eraser to depict his quality that he has the ability to erase his mistakes, i.e. he learns from his mistakes and does not

commit the same mistake twice. Another may use the picture of a rubber band to depict his flexible approach to life. WHY? Goal-setting may provide us with a plan for success but unless we have a strong why, we will not be motivated to follow our goals. Some audio-visual clips on motivation, drivers of desire, positivity, attitude of gratitude will follow GROUP PRESENTATION on what we must do to keep ourselves motivated during our travel on the highway of success. The thing to remember is that like bathing, motivation is needed daily. WE CAN The program will end on a note of positivity when the group will create a song on WE CAN with inputs from everyone and sing it together.
