Android device won't boot after doing a factory reset.?

I have a Asus TF201 Transformer Prime that I tried to do a factory reset. After I did it it won't boot up it just goes to CWM-based recovery v5.5.0.4. A screen with a top hat on top of a yellow circular arrow. When I go through the menu on that page and execute wipe data/factory reset, it goes through about a few minutes sequence and says data wipe complete. after that I reboot it just goes back to the CWM-based recovery screen. When I tried to update the US firmware downloaded from the Asus website it won't do it, it just says E: Can't open /sdcard/update.zip (No such file or directory) Installation aborted. I also get Andy laying on his back with his stomach door open ant a red triangle with a black question mark in it. Help me please. The reason I attempted a factory reset is because the flash player wouldn't load inside of 3 different browsers and google wouldn't let me download flash player again. Ok, here's what you're going to do. I need you to follow my instructions right down to the letter. (1) Download honeycomb_root_cwm.zip onto your PC. (2) Unzip. Inside, you will find 2 folders. Place the folder "root-honeycomb" in your C: directory on your PC. Ignore the other folder. (3) Make sure your TP is on inside CWM. Plug it into your PC. (4) On your PC, go to start menu and type in "cmd" and enter. Command prompt window should pop up. (5) In the command prompt (the window with black background), type "cd\" and enter. Type "cd roothoneycomb" and enter. (6) Type "adb devices". You should get a long string of numbers. If you don't get anything, wait a minute and try again. Once "adb devices" gives you a string of number, then go on. (7) Type "adb shell". (8) Now, type "dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p4 bs=100 count=1" and enter. (9) Now, type "dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p3 bs=16 count=1" and enter. (10) Type "exit". (11) Now, on your prime, reboot system. You will either boot into the current ROM or you will get stuck at the splash screen. This is a good thing. (12) Turn off by holding the power button. (13) Turn on by holdering the power and volume down buttons at the same time. Once you see white texts, release and immediately press the volume up button. (14) Go ahead try to install (flash) the firmware you downloaded from Asus. Once it's done installing, reboot and you should be back to non-rooted stock.

Its just not my day, when I go to the link and click on download, I get the message "The user hosting this content is out of bandwidth." Can this DL be found elsewhere? Also, when I connect the TFP201 to the PC, it does not show up in my computer, but I do here the chimes from the PC when I plug it int the USB. In the mounting menu, I see that the usb is unmounted and won't mount.

I was not running Honeycomb, it had been upgraded to ICS.

{Hahaha, sorry. I missed one thing. Hang on, let me correct the mistake. Hahaha, sorry.} (5) In the command prompt (the window with black background), type "cd\" and enter. Type "cd roothoneycomb" and enter. (6) Type "adb devices". You should get a long string of numbers. If you don't get anything, wait a minute and try again. Once "adb devices" gives you a string of number, then go on. <

I had already tried this step to no avail, but I did try it again and it still doesn't work. It's stuck in the Clodkworkmod recovery. I can not get this thing to recognize the usb port nor the sd slots. Every time I try to mount USB storage, I get the message "CWM-based Recovery v5.5.0.4 E: Unable to open ums lunlife (no such file or directory)" Does this mean that I now have a brick and would Asus fix this under warranty? If they won't fix this under warranty, would this be an expensive fix.

1. Tell me this. When you have the transformer plugged in and command prompt opened, what does the command "adb devices" give you in the command prompt window? That's important info, not these other stuff that you keep giving me. I can't help you if you keep not giving me important info.

1. I put the USB/power cable into the ePad at the bottom and the USB of the PC (the one that looks like a black iPod/iPad/iPhone cable.) I pulled up the cmd prompt and typed in cd\ to get to the c: prompt><I then typed "cd root-honeycomb" to get into the downloaded folder>< Then I typed "adb devices" and got the message "daeman not running- starting it now on port 5037* *daeman started successfully* List of devices attached C:\root-honeycomb>"adb shell

error: device not found c:\root-honeycomb

1. I'm using an Asus 64bit quad core laptop with Windows 7. I've never attempted to unmount anything, the only thing I did was try to mount usb storage & mount staging which both have been unmounted since I did the factory reset. I've tried the adb devices command several times after several reboots on the LT & the Tablet.

1. Ok, here's what you're going to do. (1) Download the following file. Prime driver.zip (2) Unzip and put the unzipped stuff somewhere easy for you to find. (3) While the tablet is on in cwm, plug it into your PC. (4) Right click the Computer icon on your PC and go to properties. (5) Click on device manager. (6) Under android phone, press on it and update driver. Navigate to where you placed the unzipped stuff and choose it. Driver will install. (7) Wait for everything to finish. Now, type in adb devices again and see what happens. Normally, people don't need to install the driver because it's already in windows 7. Don't know why yours doesn't have it.

Hey Goodintentions, that worked. The tablet is now booting up to ICS in the state it was and is still rooted and still has the superuser ikon. The flash is still not working within the browser. When I pull up many web sites such as FB, a lot of info is missing mainly text. The first time I clicked on flash, it gave me an option to choose what browser to load it in, I chose the blue browser (doesn't have a name). The first time FB worked great until I tried to play a video on FB. It gave me the message that I needed to DL flash player. Now when I click on the flash player ikon, it opens up the browser with the url "https://settings.adobe.com/flashplayer/mobile/" and it takes you nowhere but just a dark grey screen. Again thanks a million for showing me how to bring a brick back to life that was a life saver. I guess I'm back to square 1, I really want to remove the rooting and the CWMrecovery and put the original CWM on. If you can help me with that it would be most appreciated.

1. The system won't let me uninstall the flash player. Also, the device is running Icylicious (Build number "KYJ2010 Prime Icylicious").

Oh, so you got a custom rom in there. That explains it. Would you like to go back to unrooted stock? Most people don't need root anyway. I think you will be much happier with unrooted stock. If you do, please do the following.

(1) Download the latest US firmware from the asus website at the following link. Just choose android and download. Look for Version V9.4.2.15(US) ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download Eee Pad Transformer Prime TF201 (2) Unzip once. Inside, you will find another zip file. Place that 2nd zip file inside a micro-sdcard and put that card in your prime. (3) Turn off your prime. (4) Turn on your prime by pressing and holding both the power button and the volume down button. As soon as white texts appear, release the buttons and immediately press the volume up button. (5) Wipe data/factory reset. Wipe cache. Wipe dalvik cache. (6) Choose install zip from sdcard. (7) Navigate to that zip file you got on your microsd and choose it. (8) Watch your prime install the unrooted stock. (9) Reboot system. You are now booting into your unrooted stock rom. Everything should be as it should have been when you first got your prime.

That did it, the only thing I did different is, I created a folder in the internal storage of the ePad and placed the firmware zip in there. I had mentioned before that the CWM-recovery that was on there did not recognize any of the inputs (USB, SD &microSD). The only way I could get it to recognize the firmware zip was to put it on the internal storage. when I boot up holding the power button and the volume down and release them both and

immediately pressing the power up once, I get a dead Andy laying on his back with a door on his stomach open with a red triangle with a black exclamation mark in it.

Well, after everything is done, you can restart normally. The pressing power and volume down button thing is only when you want to get into recovery. The dead android is there because

recovery can't detect anything to work with. Can you start the tablet normally?

Unbelievable, tablet would not boot, nor would it recognize the sd card. just boot loop after boot loop. I could do a restore from a previous back up and still would only boot to cwm. This totally fixed it and I did as you said and it booted right away.
