CHRISTMAS IN JULY JEWELRY BOUTIQUE

Each year, the resale jewelry boutique attracts crowds of shoppers who support our parish school through their purchases during the OMMS Christmas in July fundraiser. As the boutique chairwoman for the 5th year, I can tell you that the school is very grateful to the generous ladies who have donated jewelry in past years. Once again, we are collecting AND WE DO NEED YOUR HELP. If you have jewelry that you never wear, please consider donating it to help the school raise funds. We accept costume jewelry of any era, gold or silver jewelry, broken chains and watches, and old rosaries. Without your generosity ladies, there would be no boutique. We rely entirely on parishioners for donations. THE NEED HAS NEVER BEEN GREATER. If you have a large collection or valuable pieces to donate, I am happy to meet with you personally. Our genuine Franciscan hospitality is at the heart of our Private Retreat ministry and we need help from married couples who are able to volunteer to host our guests while they are here. Hosting means staying at the center in a private room, having meals here, and in general making sure the retreatant has someone to go to in case of any need someone has. A Private Retreat is generally silent or with little talking. The retreatant come to take time to pray, reflect and renew their weary souls. The Old Mission, known as the "King of the Missions," founded in 1798 is turning 214 years old! El compartir con amor nuestros regalos de tiempo y talento sirviendo, es una forma de vida. Es una forma maravillosa para nosotros los que seguimos a Jess, el compartir lo que Dios nos ha regalado. Esta semana todos estamos invitados a considerar hacer o renovar el compromiso de compartir los regalos recibidos de Dios aqu en nuestra parroquia. Qu bendecidos por Dios estamos nosotros que podemos desarrollar, usar y compartir nuestros dones con otras personas para construr el Reino de Dios! Nosotros les estamos muy agradecidos a todos ustedes en la parroquia por responder a la llamada para ser administradores buenos, en sus hogares, en el lugar de trabajo, en la comunidad y aqu mismo en nuestra parroquia. Qu grande es el ser Administradores de los Dones de Dios! Celebremos con alegra! Hemos sido dotados y llamados! Como administradores de los regalos de Dios, nosotros somos llamados, no solo a ser agradecidos, sino responsables y a cargo de cmo utilizamos y compartimos esos dones. Nosotros celebramos con gozo las muchas formas que compartimos nuestros regalos recibidos de nuestra comunidad parroquial y las cuales ayudan a tantas personas. Nosotros tenemos muchos ministerios maravillosos en nuestra parroquia! Esta semana les invitamos a visitar las reas diferentes que se muestran fuera del Centro Serra y observen todos las reas para servir de ministerios diferentes los cuales les estaremos ofreciendo tanto en la Parroquia como en la Misin. Los lderes de los ministerios los ayudarn a reflexionar sobre las formas que ustedes pueden hacer un compromiso para compartir sus regalos de Tiempo y Talento con los dems y con nuestra comunidad parroquial. Por favor considere cmo puede compartir sus regalos de Tiempo, Talento y Tesoro, mientras todos continuamos nuestra jornada de fe! Lo que usted decida, nosotros deseamos agradecerle por ello, por ser parte de nuestra comunidad parroquial y por ayudarnos a participar en la misin y en el ministerio de Jess. Nosotros somos obsequiados por Dios y venimos a trabajar aqu en nuestra parroquia, a travs de los Sacramentos, de nuestra oracin comn y de nuestras experiencias de adoracin y utilizando y compartiendo nuestros regalos en muchos ministerios de amor y de servicio. NUESTRO MINISTERIO EN LA IGLESIA

Es un punto aparentemente insignificante, pero importante a tener en cuenta al reflexionar sobre el ministerio durante estos das previos a la venida del Espritu Santo: percatarse de que el lugar de Judas entre los apstoles fue llenado a causa de su traicin, no de su muerte. l haba sido, segn las palabras de Pedro: llamado a desempear con nosotros este ministerio. Entonces es la traicin de la misin y no simplemente la muerte lo que deja un vaco en la estructura de la misin de la Iglesia. Nos olvidamos de que en la mente de los otros apstoles, Judas habra sido contado entre los doce que estuvieron presentes cuando Jess rez la plegaria que escuchamos hoy: que al ser enviados al mundo fueran santificados en la verdad. Es difcil para nosotros comprender que Jess se arrodillara para lavarle los pies a Judas. Estas son lecciones poderosas e importantes que nosotros debemos recordar y tener en nuestro corazn al reflexionar sobre el lugar de nuestro ministerio particular en la Iglesia y el mundo, si nos mantenemos fieles a ese ministerio, consagrados a la verdad.
