There are generally two types of entrance exams after graduation, one is related to the UG course mostly for

enrolling in masters program of the respective courses like GATE, JNU entrance, DU entrance, MS etc . The other category is of general entrances, irrespective of the courses pursued in graduation like CAT, MAT, CDS, bank PO, apart from this there are various exams for scholarship programs in foreign universities. The preparation for these exams starts with the commencement of final year of the UG course. However, the toughest part is to handle both the preparation and the final year exams simultaneously as they tend to fall around the same part of year. Besides assignments, class tests, family function bad health create disturbances in the flow of preparation. Also, when the nature of entrance exam doesn't coincide with that of final exams, it becomes one of the reasons for worry among students. It mostly happens in the case of humanities students when they take up management or defence services exams which has majority of aptitude based questions opposite to subjective nature of humanities subject. Despite these obstacles in the course of preparation DU students taking up these exams are categorically divided. Bright students, having knack of their subject, without any haste of taking up jobs opt for the masters program like GATE, GRE, JNU, DU. Students with outstanding aptitude and innate managerial skills(clearly visible in co-curricular activity) but anyhow couldn't relate to their subjects go for CAT and GMAT. There is another category of students who see their career in armed forces and thus opt for defence services exam like CDS, AFCAT. Most of them find this field lucrative due to number of facilities provided and others because they hit gym daily or find it adventurous or may have watched movies like Lakshya starring Hritik Roshan.

Apart from this Bank PO, SSC (Staff Selection Committee) and LDC (Lower Divisional Clerk) for clerical position in ministries, ASM (Assistant Station Master), State Commission Exams for State Police (inspectors and constables) are some of the exams popular among DU students due to its sarkari factor. It requires high school level mathematical skills and provides job security with adding stars to their marriage proposal resume. After many unsuccessful attempts my personal experience suggests that competitive entrance exams are like hockey world cup finale. Those three hours decides the fate. Some, after a yearlong burning of night oil panic where as others might get lucky. Given the minimum level of aptitude and hard work required one just has to maintain the composure and leave rest to god if one is not atheist.
