What can you monitor?

Nagios - Devices

Is the device up and running? Uses the ping command Veries it is connected to the network and
reachable

Nagios - Services
WWW DHCP TCP / UDP custom ports (AFP - TCP 548) SNMP SMTP

Nagios - SNMP
Check for uptime Check if a printer is out of paper Check for any other SNMP value

Use a TCP service check to make sure TCP port 548 is open
