This is an activity that will test students understanding about the previous topic which is about the Midpoint of a Line Segment.
Mechanics:
The class will be divided into four teams according to the color of their nametags i.e. yellow, red, blue and green. Each group will send one representative who will be given a chance to solve a problem in front of the class. He/she will solve one equation that the demonstrator will give to him/her as fast as he could. The members sitting on their seats will think of a food with two syllables. While their representatives is solving the equation, they will say the first syllable of the food they had chosen continuously, and once their representative has done solving, they will say the second syllable of their food choice. While the members are saying the first syllable, they will base their tone on the hand gestures of the demonstrator. Solving equations on the board will be one-by-one.
Activity 2: SLOWPE
This is an activity aiming to introduce to the students what is the lesson for todays encounter which is about Slope of a Line
Mechanics:
The demonstrator will flash on the screens some song lyrics. He will let the students examine the lyrics. Then there will be a group presentation based on their interpretation of the song lyrics. Every group is given freedom to be as artistic as they could be. After all the groups had presented, the demonstrator will let them sing together accompanied by background music of that song.
SLOWPE
Tune of LOW by Flo Rida The difference of the y, and the difference of the x. Also known as rise over run. Divide the two. And then reduce. Then you got slope, slope, slope, slope, slope, slope, slope. (Repeat the whole passage twice!!!)
Mechanics:
Each group will be given an envelope that contains an activity sheet and the materials to be used in doing the task. The members of the group will work collaboratively, and they will start doing the task once they heard the music is playing. After they had finished doing the activity, they will post their outputs on the board. After all the groups have posted their work, the demonstrator will choose one member of each group to explain their answers.

Definition of Terms
Angle of inclination of a line is the smallest positive angle from the positive x-axis to the line.
Slope of a line is the ratio of the difference of the y-coordinates over the difference of the x-coordinates. m= rise / run ; m= (y2-y1) / (x2-x1) Guide Questions: (Refer to the figure)
1. Using your protractor, what is the angle of inclination of the line? 2. By using your calculator, what is the tangent of the angle of inclination of the line? 3. What is the rise (y2-y1) of the line? 4. What is the run (x2-x1) of the line? 5. What is the slope of the line using the rise over run process? 6. Compare your answer in No. 2 and No. 5. What have you noticed about the two results? 7. From your answer in No.6, what do you think is the other operational definition for the slope of the line? Justify your answer!
Messages: Parallel lines have the same slope. Slope of perpendicular lines are negative reciprocal of each other.
Activity 5: APPLY IT TO ME
This is an activity that will test if the students grasp the key concepts presented to them by the demonstrator.
Code: FORGIVEN
FORGIVEN
The picture Forgiven reveals the heart of God towards you. As you look at the picture you see not only Jesus wrapping His arms around a fallen man, you see Him wrapping His arms of mercy around you. Your eyes say, "Jesus is holding a broken sinner." Your heart says, "Jesus is holding me." When you look at the cross you will never need to question if He loves you. He came for you - He died for you - He lives for you. What a tremendous price has been paid -- more than all the riches in the entire world. This price was paid so that you could know the joy of being forgiven.
Questions:
1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. Give one definition of slope. Give one operational definition of slope. What are the four possibilities for the slope of a line? (3-6)
What can you say about the slope of parallel lines? What can you say about the slope of perpendicular lines?
Activity: ASSIGNMENT
A. Solve the following problems. 1. What is the slope of a line that passes through the points (-2, 6) and (2,-2)? 2. Find the slope of a line that passes through the points (0, -4) and (-3, 1). 3. Show that the line with a slope of -2/3 is perpendicular to the line joining P (1, 4) and Q (-3, -2). 4. Show that A (6, 2), B (8, 6), C (4, 8) and D (2, 4) are vertices of a rectangle. Prove your answer, 5. Prove that triangle with vertices A (2, 1), B (6, 9) and C (-2, 3) is a right triangle and find its area. B. Create a poem based on our topic for today. It should have at least four lines per stanza and contain at least three stanzas. No meter is needed. Note: rhyming of words is not a requirement but is an advantage to get a higher grade. Criteria for judging: Relationship to the topic Grammatical correctness Word choice Overall-impact Neatness Total
