IASC Gender Marker Training Sessions

Geneva, Switzerland Venue: TBD near the UN Palais Session 1: 7 June 2012, 14:00-17:00 Session 2: 8 June 2012, 9:30 12:30
The IASC Gender Marker (GM) is a simple and practical tool to assist operational partners to better reflect gender dimensions and needs in the design of programmes and projects submitted to humanitarian financing schemes such as CAPs, CERFs and Pooled Funds mechanisms. The Gender Marker is mandatory in all CAP projects as well as in CHFs and ERFs. The Gender Marker was implemented in 20 countries in 2012. As a result of this work, gender dimensions have been strengthened in NAFs, CHAPs, Cluster Response Plans, as well as in over 2000 projects in these 20 countries. The SWG on Gender and GenCap invite you to learn how to use the IASC Gender Marker in a three-hour workshop on either 7 or 8 June 2012. Geneva-based humanitarian partners are welcomed to participate in this hands-on training. The specific objectives of this training are to: Sensitize participants to the Gender Marker, including practical examples of how inclusion of gender perspectives can help improve humanitarian outcomes. Build the understanding of participants of how the Gender Marker has been applied at country level and what the initial results have been. Introduce participants to the Gender Marker Toolkit and how to apply it in the context of their work in supporting country-level teams.
