Purpose of the role (job statement) To plan, teach and evaluate an effective learning experience, so that young people aged 1 1-16, including those with additional learning needs at Stretford High School are engaged, motivated and can make learning progress and achieve, within a safe environment. Principal Responsibilities Key duties alongside core standards expected of a professional teacher with QTS; 1. To assist in the implementation of aims and objectives of the school. 2. To undertake any reasonable professional duty which may be delegated or instructed by the head teacher or Governing body. 3. To be entitled to a break of reasonable length in the course of each school day. 4. To attend staff meetings before school, school/subject development. meetings, parents evenings, school promotion activities, and student supervision at break times, provide extra curricular student learning activity, in accordance with specified hours for teacher directed time. 5. To attend meetings such as Team Around the Child Meetings (TACS) and statutory annual reviews, which will involve reviewing statements of special educational needs and producing Annual Review Report 6. To monitor, mentor and support the overall progress and development of students as a Teacher and Learning Tutor 7. To commit to personal development in the relevant areas including subject knowledge and pedagogical methods. 8. To ensure the effective/efficient deployment of classroom support to contribute positively to effective working relations within the school. 9. To co-operate and actively collaborate with other staff to ensure a sharing and effective usage of resources to the benefit of the School, department and the students. 10. To maintain discipline in accordance with the schools procedures, to encourage excellent learning habits with regard to punctuality, behaviour, standards of work and homework. 11. To contribute to the development of effective subject links with external agencies and school partners. 12. To teach primarily year 7 and 8 students who have either a statement of SEN or are at school action plus on the code of practice and who have complex needs. 13. To develop appropriate Schemes for learning and lesson plans which are highly differentiated and take into account all the differing aspects of the student need. 14. To prepare annual individual education plans and termly targets for each pupil and to ensure their implementation 15. To organise the class resources and displays to create a stimulating environment 16. To evaluate pupils work as appropriate and to as sess pupils against the National Curriculum or other appropriate systems 17. To record pupils' progress, however tiny the steps, and to maintain adminis trative paperwork 18. To liaise with social workers, speech and language therapists, physiotherapists, educational psychologists and other relevant professionals who make up the Multidisciplinary Team 19. To promote learning outside of the classroom through activities such as educational visits, school trips or sports events 20. To keep up-to-date with changes in the curriculum and advancements in best practice

Indicative qualifications, knowledge, skills and experience Will hold relevant first degree with PGCE and QTS or have relevant education based degree with QTS or have first degree and has gained QTS through Graduate teacher programme or equivalent. Will have evidence of skill base in engaging, motivating and inspiring young people to learn, progress and achieve. Will have evidence of skill base in learning, teaching, assessment methods in line with those set out in core standards expected of a professional teacher. Will have knowledge and/or experience of learning and teaching within either a primary or special school setting or with young people who have additional learning needs aged 11-16. Will have evidence of personal commitment/be able to offer to develop students in an extra -curricular learning capacity.
