Last Thursday was IDAHO day (International Day Against Homophobia). To mark the occasion and highlight possible solutions to homophobia, the Joint Committee on Justice, Defense and Equality invited written submissions from LGBT organizations on how best to address this issue. Toddy Hogan on behalf of LINC addressed the committee emphasizing that full equality on all levels was the way forward. She called for parental and childrens rights to be addressed, transparency in the family courts, dignity for LGBT people in elder ipsum care and awareness training at all levels of society. A transcript and video of the live proceedings will be available from Oireachtas.ie in the coming weeks.
