Just Around The Corner...

On the beaches of Normandy During World War II, the Allies carried out amphibious assault landings on June 6, 1944. In the ensuing battle, thousands of young men and women lost their lives. Not far from the landing site, there is now a very large well -groomed cemetery with a beautiful chapel at one end. In the chapel one finds an altar of black and gold Pyrenees marble engraved with the inscription: I Give Unto Them Eternal Life And They Shall Never Perish.

As we prepare for Memorial Day, we might well ask ourselves: Am I worth their sacrifice? Am I grateful to them? What might I be willing to give to bring peace and freedom to the world?

Angel Mother Nancy Hanks Lincoln was still a young woman when she died. Her little boy, Abraham, was only nine. Still, Nancy had taught Abraham so well that he never forgot her guidance. He often said of his mother: All that I am or hope to be, I owe to my angel mother. On one occasion, Lincoln said, I remember my mothers prayers and they have always followed me. They have clung to me all my life.

Love Clothes 4 A Cause...this organization came here and picked up the clothes left over from our church yardsale, which was a great relief to those having to clean up after it ended. Lucky Billings, who is listed on the business card above, stopped by just the other day to let us know that those clothes, along with others, had just been shipped to Ghana, a country in West Africa. This was a nice reminder of how really easy it is to help others. This organization does other things with the clothing also. You can go to their website to learn more and maybe you will want to give them a call next time you have clothes to give-a-way. www.Clothes4aCause.com

Please continue to give toward this wonderful ministry. Thank You!

We hope this will help you know who your deacon is for the year. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the church office.

The gifts [Christ] gave were that some would be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers . wrote St. Paul in his letter to the Ephesians (4:11).

What was the purpose of these people?

1

A. to be blown about by every wind of doctrine

1

B. to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ
1

C. to work honestly with their hands so as to have something to share with the needy
1

D. to put away falsehood and speak the truth Hint: The answer is in Ephesians 4:12.

An old dollar bill and an even older $20 arrive at a Federal Reserve Bank to be retired. "I've had a pretty good life," the $20 says. "I've been to Vegas, the finest restaurants in New York, and even on a Caribbean cruise." "You did have an exciting life!" the dollar says. "Where have you been?" the $20 asks. "Oh, I've been to the Methodist church, the Baptist church, spent some time with the Lutherans..." "Wait," the $20 interrupts. "What's a church?"
