(NAPSI Photo) website with tools and resources for keeping children safe in and around cars. For more than 25 years, the Ad Council and NHTSA have worked together on consumer safety PSA campaigns. Previous campaigns targeted individual stages of child passenger safety; i.e., the LATCH system, booster seats and seat belts. The English-language PSAs were created pro bono by advertising agency Gotham, Inc. We are proud to partner with Secretary LaHood, Administrator Strickland and NHTSA to extend our more than 25-year partnership with NHTSA by releasing new PSAs that address the absolute importance of child car safety, said Peggy Conlon, president and CEO of the Ad Council. Last week I wrote an article about the problems with milk. In reality most of these problems come from milk that has been processed, that is, pasteurized and homogenized. During the process of pasteurization, milk is heated to 161 degrees to destroy the bacteria that are supposedly harmful to humans. This heating causes a great deal of damage to the natural benets of milk. The proteins are modied, the natural enzymes are damaged, good healthy organisms are destroyed, and some healthy fats are changed to Trans fats. Many of you may remember whole milk that separated. The cream was removed from the top and used to make butter. The remainder was called skimmed milk and is supposed to be healthy for us. The homogenizing process keeps the cream from separating from the rest of the milk. The fat in milk is in very large macromolecules which oat. Homogenization is mechanical extruding process that makes the fat particles very small so they are no longer lighter than the watery part of the milk. This greatly changes our ability to digest and use the milk fat like nature intended. During the process of homogenization an enzyme called Xanthane Oxidase is released. In raw milk this enzymes kills pathogenic bacteria, but when broken out of it natural environment it is extremely acidic and foreign to our body chemistry. It is one of the contributing causes of osteoporosis and arterial inammation. In primitive cultures, milk, especially butter, was referred to as a sacred food. It was given to both parents before they became pregnant, a woman during her pregnancy, and to mothers while nursing. Because they did not have refrigeration, and raw milk spoiled easily, all of these cultures used some form of fermentation to preserve milk products. This includes yogurt, sour cream, cottage cheese, and all forms of other cheeses. When made from unprocessed milk, these foods can be very benecial. As I mentioned last week, we still see people who have problems with unprocessed dairy products, but not nearly as much as processed dairy. There are some that still have lactose intolerance, meaning they do not have the enzymes to digest milk sugar, lactose. There are some who are allergic to the casein which causes irritable bowel syndrome, Crohns disease, excessive postnasal mucus, allergic rhinitis, asthma, chronic hives, eczema and other allergic and inammatory conditions. So, to see if the dairy products are harmful to you, use the two-week elimination / challenge test, or the pulse test. If you can handle dairy products, we strongly recommend that they be organic and unprocessed. Organic raw milk does not contain any heavy metals, growth hormone, antibiotics, herbicides or pesticides, greatly reducing toxic loads compared to commercial milk. The Weston A. Price Foundation can be helpful to locate raw dairy resources. Their website (www.realmilk. com) should give you chapter locations as well as the date and location of their annual convention. If you live near Lakeview, called the store or email, and we can give you contact information for the local chapters. If you are like me, and cannot tolerate dairy products (neither raw nor processed), dont cry. There are good alternatives. We recommend rice milk, almond milk, rice yogurt, coconut yogurt, rice ice cream, almond cheese, and organic goat cheese. We generally do not recommend soy products (like Silk) unless they are certied organic and made from whole soy. Soy isolates have been known to be very inammatory. Many soy products contain phyto estrogens. These are not very healthy for males, growing children, or women who have estrogen dominance and weight issues. Put Your Health in Your Own Hands.
