Infant Baptisms are celebrated on the first and third Sunday of each month following catechesis for parents and godparents of candidates. Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) Adults requesting information about full initiation and communion with the Roman Catholic Church (the sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation) may contact the Faith Formation Office , 4966011. Sacrament of Matrimony The Sacrament presumes active sacramental participation on the part of one or both persons. UC Hastings refused to give official recognition to the Christian Legal Society because they required student members to sign a statement of faith that is specifically Christian in doctrine and morality. The US Supreme Court narrowly ruled (5-4) that a public law school may require all student groups to allow any student to be a voting member or leader of the group regardless of whether the student agrees with - or actively opposes - the values, beliefs, or speech of the group. JOB OPENING ~ PARISH YOUTH MINISTRY The faith community of St. Edward the Confessor seeks an energetic and qualified person to coordinate our Middle School Faith Formation program and to collaborate with the youth minister in other areas of spiritual growth for high school students. Applicants must be willing to work with culturally diverse groups in an inter-generational environment, communicating weekly with staff, volunteers, parents and peer leaders. The position is hourly and part time (approximately 20 hours per week). Applicants should have a bachelors degree (or degree in progress) in theology, psychology or other related human development field and/or 3+ years experience working with youth in a ministerial setting.
