Mission
To join efforts inside and outside the region to increase the presence of RE in the region of LAC.
Increase access to knowledge related to RE Promote South-South cooperation. Increase investments in RE technologies within the region.
Origin
Montevideo 2006: Ibero-American Ministerial Meeting on Energy Security in Latin America. Governmental Representatives and Ministers of Energy from 13 countries signed a Ministerial Declaration, which requests UNIDO to create the Observatory for Renewable Energy 2008: The Observatory for RE in LAC initiates its activities. 2009: Signature of an MoU with OLADE takes place, consolidating a strong alliance. Currently working in 13 countries.
Participating countries
Bolivia Brazil Chile Colombia Costa Rica Cuba Dominican Republic Ecuador Mexico Nicaragua Paraguay Peru Uruguay

Knowledge Platform
Web based software oriented to facilitate the fluid exchange of knowledge on energy. The platform works as an extensive digital library of specialized information. Primary information: One of the first challenges encountered was to identify the source and incorporate it into this process. The information can be uploaded from the different spots where the sources are placed. Almost 1000 documents available.
